Why is Walking with Dinosaurs still the most realistic looking dinosaur documentary after all these years?
The skins on a lot of the newer dinosaur models look fake and plastic comparatively.

Puppets, animatronics, whatever, were used for the close detail scenes. This was reverse engineered into the cgi for maximum realism.
