The setpiece has very little post-processing, but the characters are all on separate render passes, which have then been blended into the base render.

Glad you like the way the lighting turned out. You can see here in the before and after just how stylized it is, but in my eyes I think it works, just to give it a little bit of a romantic feel.

My various user libraries are too damn large. Besides uninstalling selected things via install manager, what's the least painful way to selectively uninstall things from a user library that were not installed via install manager? (Renderosity, Renderotic, freebies, etc items.)
>>
>>643703
I'm pretty new to DAZ, but it's my understanding that that kind of content must be uninstalled manually, going through the list of files that usually comes in the attached readme file.

There's this tool, though, that arguably would help managing content from places aside DAZ Store: https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assist

The downside is that apparently cannot work on already installed content. Haven't tested it yet though, so hopefully I'm wrong. I'm just relaying what I read elsewhere, trying to come with a solution for managing a mess of a library.
>>
>>643704
Yeah, something like another DB that keeps track of modified files.
Oh well, 100% it's absurd textures taking up so much space. Time to get digging.

Maybe daz should use some "compressed but not really" format. That way you could just throw HugeFutaDickV8.Daz into your user library folder. Inside it can be the usual folder structure. Kind of how video games of old had .wad, .pak, .pk3, etc.

Not holding my breath on that just yet. Tried the reallusion suite about six months ago. Their own assets are not worth diddly, interface is nearly as obtuse as Daz.

Peeps, is there some proper documentation for DAZ? Like a manual describing techniques, with a reference section, etc., that kind of thing? I know about the Documentation Center (http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/start), but honestly it feels like an incomplete community effort. What am I missing?

>>
I want to share scene folders between my desktop and my laptop so I can pose shit while away from main render machine.
What's the best way to keep the files synced? Google Drive?
>>
>>644472
If you have all the content you need on your laptop, Google Drive or similar should work, if you are careful not to unexpectedly overwrite files -- which tends to happen with live-synced cloud storage.

If the plan does not involve installing all content also on your laptop, you'll need to have it in a path accessible over the network. This is what I do, I install everything (directly and through the DAZ Install Manager) to a remote folder, and also save scenes there, so everything is available everywhere. Since DAZ doesn't care too much about actual paths, but finds content based on unique identifiers, this is quite simple to set up. Pic related, it's how I set the paths in the Content Directory Manager.

Disgust is normal.

No I don't make anything to shock, it's all variations of themes made for me. I didn't used to share everything but after the early ones got """popular""" people wanted more. So they got more, and I think most people regretted wanting more.

The strangest thing to me isn't the strange stuff I make, it's people who click on my stuff and then get angry enough to post about it or downvote or whatever. Why even click it? You should be able to do whatever you want, but can't you see how god damn awful that looks?

I get that your thing is exaggerated proportions, but even then, things have to be scaled proportionately, no? The tits look like helium balloons, do you actually think that's a good look? And the plastic skin, is that intentional? Why does she have sausage link fingers?

You can't just blow up the lips like that and leave the other facial features practically untouched. It looks absurd. I don't think you realize how bad you are at fulfilling your artistic vision. You should be trying to make your characters look more like caricatures. As it is, they look like abominations.
>>
>>646354
There's another one.
>>
>>646355
Can't handle criticism. Got it.

I don't appreciate the disingenuous straw man argument either, as though I'm upset at your post or won't accept criticism. I'd love some criticism, as long as it's not more disguised opinions like the last post. And I'd love to see more hyper bimbos! Get get here in the muck with me.
>>

>stop liking what i dont like: the post
>>
>>646359
You're getting defensive though and showing you can't back up your artistic vision at all because if there's the slightest hint that I dislike your work you'll just dismiss the input entirely. That shows you're not confident in your work and you probably know it.

I think you're probably better than this but you're honestly delusional about your own abilities.
I know because I can look at some of my own designs that I created a year ago, and I can see dozens of faults now where I couldn't see any at all back when I made them. For some reason though, you aren't developing as an artist and you're stuck in this stage where your artistic abilities are severely underdeveloped but you just aren't able to see it.

The whole hyper-bimbo thing isn't the problem here, that's just the basis for your artistic vision. The problem though is that your art isn't aesthetically pleasing at all, and you can't see that because your mind is in this bubble of delusion.

Just look at pic related and compare it to yours. The principle isn't exactly the same but you should be able to see there is a huge disparity in fidelity. Can you see that?

His renders are clean, correctly lit, and frequently revolting but he demonstrates skill. Post your work, if you have any (protip: you don't).

I was pretty happy with how this one turned out.

I know all about the skills and efforts required to make 3D asets, and you need to get over it. Creating models and textures is finnicky but it's not rocket science.

I'm not saying I'm the best by any means, but with the improvements I*ve made over the last year alone, it's been pretty eye opening about a lot of things. I don't think most people in this thread are actually seeking to improve their artistic abilities at all, and that's a shame, because you could all do a lot better. And I say that as the only person who puts any efforts into his renders in this entire thread, and I have no shame saying that.

>>
>>646372 (Tullamore)
>but with the improvements I*ve made over the last year alone
Yeah and ironically most of the improvements came from the useful crit I've pounded into your ass here while at the same time I'm saying lay off GA. The difference is GA is a porn artist scratching his own itch and while you don't believe it, I know the base figure and toolset he uses and I'm impressed with how he turned Victoria 4 into those characters using nothing except Poser's Morph Brush (which is a damn sight less sophisticated than ZBrush or even Blender). And you've built your muscle women entirely using external sculpting tools instead of prebuilt morph sets, as well as learning how to make your own clothing and props.
In your own ways, you both put a lot of time and effort into your work. For one thing, GA's characters are usually animated and AFAIK I don't recognize too many if any premade animations in them.

If either of you (or I) tried to post your work on Artstation we'd all be laughed out of the site. Let's dial the catfighting a bit back here, I respect both of you for what you do.

>>646377
Oh wow, you're actually taking credit for my improvements? I'm honestly fucking shocked to my core. The fucking gall of that.

I don't know what to say at this point. That just made me so fucking angry. If your goal was to get under my skin, then you accomplished that. I put time, effort, frustration, vision and love into my craft, and this guy wants to take credit for that?

I even hide your posts every time because your criticisms are fucking dogshit. I couldn't even tell you a single point of criticism you've ever relayed to me because I haven't read any of your posts for at least over half a year, I just hide them automatically because I don't need your point of view sullying my own creative vision.

I'm honestly, genuinely flabbergasted that you'd be this arrogant. Meanwhile, you never contribute anything to the thread yourself, and if you do, it's nothing worthwhile because everything that's posted here is pretty much unanimously god-awful. I really don't know what else to say. I'm trying to figure out how to deal with the rage I'm feeling right now so that nobody will be able to get under my skin the way you just did. Honestly, get yourself in check, man, because your head is so far up your own ass it's unbelievable if that's what you actually think.
>>
>>646379
>I couldn't even tell you a single point of criticism
You couldn't do that for anyone. You're just masquerading your strong, autistic opinions as criticism.
>>
>>646377
I'm going to bed right now because some of us have to work in the morning, but honestly, you just sent me into an intense rage by that statement.

The amount of time I've put into this; spending weeks on a composition just to try to get all the details right. Fiddling with software, trying to work within my own hardware limitations, teaching myself how to model, teaching myself how to UV map, teaching myself how to texture a model from scratch, teaching myself how to utilize marvelous designer, to create clothes, to create hair, to create skin textures, to become more proficient in substance painter, to figure out my own pipeline, to streamline said pipeline, to getting better at finding the motivation, getting better at initializing a new idea for a composition.

You had NOTHING to do with that. It was my effort, and my effort alone. Get that clear. If you bother responding, I won't read it, because I'm leaving now and I'm only ever coming back to this thread to post my work, and then I'm out again. I will never come in here again just to frequent, or see what is going on, or to give critique, because what you just said was honestly the most insulting thing I have ever read in my life. The fucking nerve that you think you had anything to do with my hard work.

Eventually I will move on to using Blender to fulfill all my needs, and I won't even post here anymore. I'm looking forward to that. Before this I was in the TK17 thread, and I moved on from that. Before that, I was in the Skyrim thread making shitty compositions, and I moved on from that. This is just another checkpoint on my way to improving, and I'm going to show your arrogant ass what true skill actually looks like.
>>
>>646379
>you're actually taking credit for my improvements
No, I'm saying I was the one who gave you most of the useful suggestions, then you ran with them, well past what I even suggested. I'm putting it in the context of the potential hypocrisy of me saying to you "aim for more anatomical realism" while holding GA to a different standard, I am not in any sense taking credit for the time you put into learning and using the tools to get there. You did the work, I just gave feedback. Apologies if it came across otherwise.
>>
>>646382
And again, you did all that, not me. Other people here said you should learn clothes modeling instead of using VG assets and you jumped into that pretty damned quickly.

Shut the fuck up, holy shit. You don't get to say that shit "looks awful". GA's work is technically proficient enough. He demonstrates good lighting concepts, scene composition and plays with abstract backgrounds. And he's an animator too! A decent one at that, with good understanding of motion and application of physics.
And Christ, you're acting so goddamn hypocritical and you don't even see it. You say "i'm so pissed off that you're acting so arrogant!!" yet you don't even realise you're the arrogant asshole here. Reread all your posts and see how much of a pompous dickhead you're acting.
Here's a fun newsflash: not everyone likes musclebound freakgirls the same way not everyone likes GA's hyperbimbos. You, especially, have no right to criticise someone on what turns them on when you yourself are feeding your own.

What are you calling pirated content?

If it is regular Daz3d content you got from shady website, then there is no problem. Even if, say, someone was autistic enough to link your ``Daz3DProArtistXXXXXXXXXXX'' deviantart account with your ``Daz3DSmallDickCuckXXXXX'' Daz3d account, there is literally no proof that you didn't buy those assets under yet another name.

Never had any problem.

If it is video game assets repurposed for your renders, then people WILL remark, but won't care if you're doing porn. I don't know if people care if you aren't doing porn, as I'm only doing porn.
>>
>>648384
>>648381
Now what I'm saying is valid for Patreon-type porn production, and small commission and shit.

If you're planning to go 10000% pro and produce a steam game under your Daz3DProArtistXXXXXXXXXXX name, then you'd better buy those assets, because I guess someone will care somewhere. Pic related. Guy bought the night elf model from Daz3d and produced a VR game and shit.

If you're at this level though, you don't care about the $50 for the night elf model.

At best they're occasionally watching Unity and Unreal releases looking for unlicensed embedded Genesis figure meshes/rigs, and even then proving that requires being able to unpack those that aren't in protected formats. Policing literally anything else is lost money to DAZ.

I guess my bone is with the mods trying to run the 3D adult content general on /aco/ where the message is ALL FUTA ALL THE TIME NO BULLY PLS and then setting up contests where 2 out of 10 pics do not feature a giant dick on a girl. I'll quit bitching about the discord.

Now, to learn how to port to daz with rigging!
>>
>>648837
Nothing ports to Daz with rigging. Daz dies this on purpose so that people can't use non Daz products with Daz. Anything you port to Daz you will have to rerig to get it to work.

I've tried to install DAZ for over five years on a couple of different computers and I still haven't been able to do it without some kind of error. Manually installing third party content. Oh boy. The funny part is Daz's official statement is they're not purposefully borking DAE and FBX to keep people from using 3rd Party assets but that it's just a bug in Daz that they've been unable to fix.

Yet when the few techs Daz still has talk about it they say "I could "fix" it with a single line of code but Daz won't let me because they don't want people using 3rd party assets."

>>
can anyone explain the interactive license to me? there's HUNDREDS of pages on the daz forum, but literally no one, including the mods or staff, have any idea how it works.
>>
>>649324
>the interactive license
The default license for nearly all 3D content for applications like DS and Poser permits you to own/distribute any renders or videos you make with the content, but you cannot redistribute the actual content inside digital media (e.g. games).
What DAZ calls the "interactive" license (and Renderosity calls the "extended" license) permits you to embed the content into distributable products. FYI if you're using Poser Pro, all the content that ships with it already has that license now. If you're not using Pro, it doesn't.
>>
>>649372
so using normal maps from daz models to put in a game requires the license?
>>
>>649382
One would assume any content from daz that has the option for interactive license.
>>
>>649383
so basically daz is essentially worthless, because a model that costs 20 bucks, has a license that costs 50 bucks more.

no retard, i'm saying if a fucking dog model costs 10 dollars, but has an interactive license of 50 dollars, i'll just go buy a fully animated dog from any other store for 20 dollars. i just didn't think daz could have possibly made such a useless license.
>>
>>649387
>i'll just go buy a fully animated dog
this has nothing to do with whether it's animated or not you idiot, it's about whether you are permitted to include the mesh, its rig and maps wholesale in a product you intend to distribute. In other words the IP itself, not images made from it. That fully animated dog from cgbytes, turbosquid, or wherever doesn't come with a license to redistribute the product inside your own games. Show me an example of this "fully animated product from any other store" that has no license with limitations you can buy.

>still telling people to make clothing by extruding the figure mesh
The biggest draw for CC is that it imports DAZ figures. Not only does their EULA specifically prohibit making clothing from the meshes, it even prohibits using shrinkwrap modifiers on generic shapes to create clothing. They are THAT anal about their IP. Even an interactive license won't give you permission to 3D print their figures.

It'll come to a point where you are just going to have to design things per figure. Even our boy musclgirl-bro has started doing that. There's no way around it unless you want your stuff looking like sorting the daz official galleries by new.
>>
>>649440
>That fully animated dog from cgbytes, turbosquid, or wherever doesn't come with a license to redistribute the product inside your own games.
Last time I checked, you can do that as long as the original mesh/textures/whatevs cannot be easily recovered (which is usually a given with distributed games, since they pack assets in their own formats). I might be wrong tho, so anybody correct me if that's the case.
>>
>>651737
>I might be wrong tho
You are. Obfuscation is not a defense here.

>>651709
The other issue is that most clothing has a pattern and neither Poser nor DS dynamically pattern a mesh so you get ridiculous distortion thanks to UV or UV-based topo.
>>
>>643715
>of old
Any game with decent mod support uses this. ESPs and ESMs for Skyrim, .package files for the Sims... Just becuase a videogame does it doesn't mean it's a bad idea desu

Both DAZ and Poser use gzip, the difference is that DAZ doesn't change the extension.
