Same with the back of the heads?
>>
>threads of fate

my nigga. I loved the facial expressions in that game, it was a good idea for them to use small sets with large character models. Rather than large sets and tiny, grainy models like Legend of Dragoon. Or worse, large sets with low poly chibi models like FF7
>>
>>639882
Pretty straightforward. The hair textures are part of the head texture for the scalp, the rest(bangs, long hair) is done with planes/shells.
>>
>>639885
Do you think at all when you look at models? The head is one solid mesh, including the back of the head. The small bits of hair are planes with transparent textures on them. And the large pieces of hair hanging down are just a separate solid mesh.

I never played the game, can you explain? Do you mean the characters are really close to the player view and backgrounds are small, or something else?
>>

Threads of fate has more box like maps so it lets your character models take up more resources, where FF7 has larger open maps which suck available resources away from the models.
>>
>>640009
I see, thank you
>>
>>639882
Why would you want to go back to that dreaded era?
>>
>>640034
it's 3d minimalism. It has its appeal, just like voxel art
>>
>>640034
Because I can...and modern styles bore me to death.
>>
>>640034
realism is boring.
>>
>>639882

Ooooh. Does anyone have the models?
>>
>>640034
Hey little fella.
You need to be 18+ to post on 4chan, so come back again in like 9 years.
Bye.
>>
>>640211
Tried looking and tried to rip them my self with no luck.
>>
>>640211
I wish, it'd be great to study to get that authentic ps1 crusty modeling down.

There's an emulator where you can enable wireframe mode. Another anon could disable the textures and posted a few screens of meshes. I'll look up the name of the emulator later. Could you do me a favour and try ripping models from a few ps games? I won't mind a no.
>>
transparent .pngs on a plane nigger
>>
The emulator is pcsxr.

>>641146

I've had it with those motherfucking transparent .pngs in this motherfucking plane!
>>

The brainlet OP is probably an indie game dev and wants to get lazy with his art.
>>
Also I think I have a DS emulator that can render meshes without textures. Does anyone have suggestions? I'm looking for games with robots, powersuits, anime characters and non-stylized humans.

I-I'm not a child! You're a child!
>>

>>
>>641325
i hope the irony is not lost on you

Also think of it this way:
PSX-N64 games have smaller texture maps that are only 16 or 32 pixels wide, so cleaner details from an animu style like ToF will look a lot nicer than realism. You don't need to draw individual strands of hair.
>>

What emulator?

DeSmuME X432R

This game is so fucking beautiful even to this day.
