Hey I don't lurk really this board but I come for informations on this.I just heard about this sofwtare that is Live2D and apparently it's the Holy Grail from the description of it. There are two versions, Euclid and Cubism. To be honest I still don't know the difference between these two versions. Apparently the software helps you to create 3D models from 2D drawings.I wanted to know if some of you could give me more informations on it and even reviews if any of you actually tested that thing. Like I said from the description, this software looks like it's the best thing ever but the lack of tutorial, discussions and reviews on it make me think that it's not as great as it seems to be.
a ton of virtual youtubers (japanese) use Live2D to great effect. Some also use Facerig. I don't know much about them though, sorry
>>637358Any idea why it's so unknown in the West.Like, this thing seems to be revolutionary especially for people like me who can program and draw but can't model.I mean, imagine if someone with the level of a comic book illustrator uses this. It would be a massive time saver.
>>637357>>637359I can tell for a fact that it's shit. There's no such thing as "being able to draw but not being able to model". You probably only draw weebshit, so you can't actually draw or you're too lazy to learn a few buttons, because if you can draw you can definitely also model. It's not revolutionary nor anywhere near good. It's just another fancy tool shitters like to flock to because it promises professional quality at the click of a button.>b-but muh jappo youtubers tho Yet another prime example of retards fishing for even bigger retards by leveraging on their absolute ignorance on a novelty topic like 3d.
>>637359the west still views virtual youtubers as weird. maybe people know kizuna ai but that's itIf you want an example of a good Facerig look at this guy:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH1lbPZuNUIAnd a good Live2D would be Yomemi:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjarED3cj3M
>>637357From what I can tell, it just projects a 2D drawing onto warped planes to mimic a 3D model rather than actually creating one. We definitely aren't that advanced yet. >Any idea why it's so unknown in the WestBecause anime itself is still taken as this niche thing that's still looked down on. It hasn't become socially accepted as the norm in the west, and chances are it never will. Due to this, as these virtual youtubers are pretty much a subset of anime, well, you can draw your own connections from there. Anyway, would you really like to see some 2D girl speaking English? Subs not dubs, as it's always said.
>>637357>>637366Why the fuck would anyone watch this trash?
>>637357It doesn't make 3d models out of 2d, you trace over drawings and build a difformation mesh with overlapping layers to create hybrid animation character. People used to do it in after effects with puppeteering tool, but live2d lets you set animation banks and sliders for various motions. I used live2d when it was in beta and didn't have english language support years ago, I don't know how much it has advanced since then.
>>637374the japanese love escapism and original characters
>>637390>>637370>>637366Ow okay, I see. So it is a limited tool in the end. Thanks for the informations. >>637364It's not that I can't in the sense that I'm shit at it. It's that I never tried yet. So when I saw a video about this, I tought it would save me the time of actually model ing a character in a real 3D modeling software.
