I hate Photoshop. Anons, do you have any good suggestions for an alternative? (for a 3D workflow, obviously)

PS is not only the easiest program to pirate but it's pretty much a standard. You can use shitty ass gimp if you hate it so much. Krita is for drawing and sketches

That is awesome! Thank you!
>>
Sai is the simplest paint program imo
I never used gimp or krita, but I heard good things about krita so you can use that if you're a poorfag.

Sai is great for drawing 2d toons ;^) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td6MbJQavjs

I heard its blend types are weird, and it's not really 3d oriented. I also cannot find where to buy it.

You are welcome

Paintstorm studio's Lifetime License and free lifetime update costs $19.00
I recently watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-pzSuQjaLQ and looking at the way they keep improving the software it really is a steal for that price.

>NO SPYWARE
Why the heck did they even write this on their product page? Shouldn't it be a given?
>>
>>636826
Sai doesn't have any color space management. You will fuck up your heightmaps or normal maps without any indication of what's going wrong. You can use it in very limited sRGB-contexts only. Basically it is inappropriate for cg.

Project dogwaffle or howler pro

There really isn't much else that is as capable as photoshop sooo... getting over it would probably my be the best thing for you.
>>
>>636835
You're giving too much credit to the incredible amount of dumb people out there. They're just trying to cover their asses.
>>
>>636855
Well, it makes me suspicious from the get-go. Tell me I'm being paranoid, but yeah. No other company that I know of (and whose software I use) does that kind of shitty "advertising".
>>
ms paint

Any help for a relative noob looking for an alternative to ps just for normal and bump maps?
>>
>>636888
Really just use gimp or pirate ps for bumps. You can even download substance designer
>>
>>636888
I think this is cool for generating normal maps from colored textures https://store.steampowered.com/app/768970/ModLab/ it's free
>>
>>636888
Daily reminder that PS can't into 32 bpc and thus is useless for normal and vector displacement maps.
>>

Gimp is shit, I have used photoshop for at least 15 years now and Krita or PSDfiddle.com are the closest in usability and have successfully used both in projects. GIMP has been a total failure every time I have used it
>>
>>634327
Paint.net is pretty good if you have the right plugins.
(inb4 i get called a fag)
>>
Gimp is incapable of handling multiple layers on a 4k texture for gaming models though. Always slows to shit.
>>
>>636926
If you have to defend yourself by getting called a fag, then deep down you know you're already one

I own Paintstorm for PC and iPad. For PC it is fantastic, Super fast and EXTREMELY configurable. You can get your workspace set up exactly how you want it and it has a powerful brush engine. However, lacks Text Tools and Effect layers. It saves natively as PSD so you can still bust out Photoshop or Krita if you need something not provided. Paintstorm's main selling point for PC is a speedy workflow.

The iPad version isn't great. It runs out of memory quickly and runs slow. For iPad I use Artstudio Pro.
