Discuss texture painting and/or post your works. What is your program of choice? What other programs do you combine your workflow with?Do you prefer working with PBR or stylized?
>>613323I polypaint it in zbrush and then give up
>>613323I make shit in 3d-coat and blender.I don't go for photorealism, but I still use PBR workflow to get roughness, normal and metalness maps even for stylized.I'm at hand painting, so I mainly generate maps, and adjust them, add gradients, and blend between them.
Is Substance Painter good for stylized textures? I don't want to paint PBR but want a better texture painting alternative to Blender, which is absolute trash for textures. Would Substance Designer be mandatory?
>>613376Mandatory, no; good, yes.
>>613376i spent a while in 3d chat with pros and literally every time i asked where do they paint stylized textures the answer is same - 3dcoat
>>613393Could I see some examples?Refer to this post: >>612939
>>613376for just stylized, 3d coat is enough, you dont need to learn anything, just load model and paint.pic is related
>>613434I could do that in Substance Painter, but i wouldn't want to, using 3D coat feels more natural and it has better brushes for that kind of work.
>>613434But that has lighting?
>>613447>and it has better brushes for that kind of workwhat do you mean? don't both programs allow you to create your own brush tips?
