This kills the Eevee.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_h-HxeVaJA
I was amazed when I saw this and immediately thought about switching to Maya, but isn't this only for animations? Imagine if I could model and reposition the whole environment in Maya while everything imports and updates in UE4...
The livelink API is open and can be implemented quite easily in any 3D program, according to their livestream.
>>612831This might be a gamechanger.UE4 is already used for realtime rendering for some video productions, This changes the workflow completely.Otherwise it helps with doing modeling and texturing at the same time.
>>612831>>612848Can somebody answer to this >>612813, though? Is this only for character animation or is there a wider range of things you can do with it?
>>612850You can model just fine in Maya.
>>612812I tried eevee and it looks like shit. This looks so much better.
>>612880I know I can model it fine in Maya, the question is can I see everything in UE4 viewport at the same time.
>>612812Again, blendlets outclassed and outmaneuvered before it even started.
>>612888T b h it is not the same thing.
>>612892Don't EVER reply to someone that says "Blendlets", period. Don't even reply to me.
>it takes a special UE4 plugin that plugs into maya to do realtime rendering >autodesk just pay fuckers to do stuff for them>blender already has this in beta,no plugins
>>612895Too bad Blender doesn't have an UI in beta or otherwise.
>>612888Why do you care? Its not like you are one of us. You are not an artist, you can't do shit, so why do you care? Has Blender raped your dad and killed your mom when you where young?
>>612914The Blender cult rapes many people of their time and effort to give them nothing in return.
>>612918answer his question you pencil dick
>>612850>>612885From a quick glance at the docs, it seems that this links *one* object in your Maya/Motionbuilder/client DCC scene to an animation target inside UE, and works only for the purpose of transferring animation data.It is possible to sync the camera, as demonstrated in OP, but you even need to name it in a particular way inside of Maya.So a very cool and helpful development, but still not comparable with Eevee.
