How the fuck am I supposed to model this area?
model the hard area first
>>612739That's what I did and I'm still stuck.
model hard area, model barrel, then bridge edge loops and smooth
>>612736With talentâ„¢
>>612745Yep it did the trick. It wasn't that complicated, I was just too dumb to find the right way to do it. Thanks.
>>612736Boolean. Model the cut out.
It's 2018 op
just add more geometry there at firtst to get the shape right and then start to clean it up
Create a horn / trumpet shape. Then use flat plane to cut out.
>>612802this. you're retarded op, i've literally started 3d modelling a few days ago and know this.
>>612802>>615001you are both idiots. Ive been a professional modeler for 12 years in Hollywood
>>615001>>615004>April fools>5 teamsIt's ALMOST as if /3/ has IDs now.
I did this in sketchup, just repeat step 4 to step 6 in different angles
>>615013Sketchup is all booleans. It'll probably look like shit when exported, especially if it has to be subdivided.
>>615042YAY! I'm team chocolate!
I don't want to be on the brown team.
>>615045Once you go brown you're never let down.
>>615127From the gallows?
>>612736Polygons. Are you this stupid?
>>615174see>>612759Read better next time dumbass
I had no idea how to do that when I tried blender and I gave up and never touched the model again
like this?
>>615327OP here, that's what I came up with. I used the knife tool to carve in the shape, followed by smoothing. The model is far from finished though, it's just for training purposes.
>>612736Tried it out for kicks, the method I ended up using was just subtracting bits off a plain box up with boolean shapes, pretty much the way you'd mill an actual metal block into shape, cleaned up and then threw on support loops.I wasn't working from reference so it looks rather crap, but I didn't really want to waste time on it either, so whatever. Pretty complex shape tho.
>>612736If it were me, I would use polygons, and place them where they would logically go to achieve the desired shape. All that is required is actually understanding how subdivision modelling works.Alternatively, you could highpoly the shape in zbrush or something then retopo it, or bake it onto a normal map.It is a bitch of an edge, yes, but its more than possible.
>>615262>can't model basic shapes>calls other people dumbasses
