time to remove the magazine takes too long, it's like he pauses for a bit before removing it

the hand looks goofy, something about the fingers, can't put my finger on it but it looks bad

Look, you don't need to open personal threads every time, it's not ok. Especially since your work is not that great yet to deserve it. At least update your previous threads with new work and stop opening a new one every time.

That being said, it's nice that you seem to really care and keep trying to achieve the AAA quality, but IMO this is the worst one. It seems like you ignored every previous critique you got, and you keep making the same mistakes. The hand now breaks at least 4 times and the gun is, again, too lightweight. The ending of the animation is too stiff, too, it can't just lock in the position like that without overshooting a little bit first.

I think you're missing a lot of details if you're wanting to be more realistic about an ak platform.

there's the weird pause when hes about to press the magazine release, secondly, it looks like there's no weight to it when the release is being pressed, those are typically some pretty stiff springs on those switches.

when he's actually reloading, you have a relatively heavy rifle just being swung around like it weighs 2 pounds, simultaneously flagging everyone near him with his barrel.

if you're trying to lengthen the reload animation, id suggest taking out that pause at the start of him releasing the magazine, and add in time when seating the magazine into the rifle, typically you'll use the notch on the mag to catch the magazine chamber, press and rotate it in. i'd lengthen the time from catching the magazine on the mag well, and slotting it inside.

I'm gonna create a portfolio once I get good enough.

Then send it around, show it to some big dogs, and pray to god that I get a positive response.

I only post here because I like the ability to post freely and not have to sign up for anything. Plus 4chan has a fast respond rate.

I'm no good at character animation, but one thing at a time is how I approach things.

How long have you been doing these, though? Have you not said it's been years already? I think reload animations are not nearly as important as other animation areas (I mean, it depends on a game, in a shooter it surely plays a big part), and you'll have to be even better at other, usual things animator for games does, I guess. Walk/run cycles, face expressions, character movements, you know, whatever, I'm not an animator.

I have a feeling you don't know how much you need to know as an animator, and if you're still practicing your weapon animations after x years, with that pace it will take like at least a decade more to get a job.

That's why I'm saying - go and also post these on Polycount and Reddit and ask for honest feedback. This place barely has any animators after all, you are only lying to yourself this way.

Seriously, what you are doing doesn't seem right to me. Nobody here wants to give their opinions since they would rather bitch about you being a shitposter, but as I said, I think you have been focusing too much on a small thing for FAR too long.

I've done 2 reloads a day. For a month I stopped. I am not back at it at 1 every 2 days. My friends told me they are sick of seeing reloads.

Also render it in HD and keep putting nice textures/shaders on the models.
Repeat the animation, maybe once in slowmo.
Or put more than one variation of reloading in one animation. Slow and fast for example.

Why do you only do reload animation, why no shooting? I would definitely also do some shooting animation.

the ADS one not so much, seems really stiff. you should practice those more.

reload looks good, but you have some kinda weird small rotations in there before the mag insertion, while the mag is off screen. the gun wobbles around a little too randomly imo.
slowed down those rotations actually look okay, but at normal speed they lose readability and just look like random jitters.

I want to become an FPS animation guy because of it's what I enjoy doing, and there is positions for it, Chance Glasco for IW does Reload animations, Griggs for IW, does reload animations. Truly they do other minor animations as well, or help with mocap but since I'm wanting to do and learn a lot I would like if that could be a position for me.

I never post any other work because this is all my work, I've spent so long trying to perfect this, and I will move on to other stuff eventually!

I've told you a thousand fucking time my fucking dude, GO RELOAD A GUN and see how it feels and see how you move when you do it cause it still looks like shit.

nobody pauses before taking the mag out.
also the thumb just stops for a second.

On an Ak the angle you hold the gun when you actually reload if you're reloading like that is a higher angle unless you can hold the gun horizontally with one hand (which is harder than it sounds and unpractical)

the gun doesnt BOUNCE around after you take the mag out; it's not like your ripping off velcro, the mag just comes out.

the angle putting the new mag in is WACK and too far foward it looks like hes doing it diagonally

and lastly the charging handle animation is backwards. You pull back fast and then the spring pushes it fowards, you dont charge the gun slowly.

ALSO again with angles no one fucking charges the gun verticaly you do that part while the gun is horizontal to your body cause its much easier to hold the gun horizontally with your left hand than your right.

FUCKING TAKE my advice for once you colossal faggot cause it will literally make your animation X1000 better
