What kind of performance enhancement do you use for your work?
For me it's modafinil and weed
>>
Getting enough sleep. I live on the edge, really

For me it's just a good ol cup of joe in the morning.
On rare occasions I'll have an energy drink instead of coffee, but it dehydrates me too much, so i end up drinking plain water for the rest of the day.

9-10 Hours sleep per day.
3 coffee's. One chocolate brownie.
Or green tea and dark chocolate.
A little-bit of weed on some days or smoking the whole day on some others.
Regular exercise and swimming.
A medium dose of psychedelic mushrooms once per quarter.
A strong dose Ayahuasca per year. Sometimes 4 in a row (always with a south-American curandero).

pic related, a painting i did after going over to the other side

If you use weed sparingly and don't slip into an habituation of daily use, it retains its positive effects while not developing any strong negative ones.
It does not enhance your performance directly but indirectly by changing your perception and thought patterns. Perfect for brainstorming and planning or as an tool to break through an creative blockage.

Sleep, sufficient hydration and physical activity when I'm not working.

Have fun, you degenerate wreck.

Good all around lifestyle. Exercise, sleep, take lots of breaks from /3/ work to get up and move around. Weed is nice to clear out the creative cobwebs every now and then but I get very lazy with regular use. Maybe I'm just intrinsically a lazy person, but if that's the case I have no business forming a habit out of it.

Also theanine is good, especially combined with caffeine or even all on it's own.

The biggest performance enhancer I ever started taking was getting a better chair and fixing my posture.

No joke, I woke up every day and after sitting down at the PC for around 15-20 minutes, my entire head and especially the frontal lobe and back would start hammering in pain. I was demotivated to do things and generally couldn't function without taking the equivalent to aspirin in the morning, which was great, but as soon as the effect wore off, it was back to square one.

I noticed that my posture was all slouched and decided to prop up my back better, first by sitting as far back in the chair as I could, second by supporting my lumbar region with a makeshift towel pillow to straighten out my back as naturally as possible. Now my back was killing me because I basically have no core, but my head stopped hurting since the weight was being supported by the back now, as it should be.

It was a day-and-night difference, like holy shit. If you feel demotivated to do things as soon as you sit in front of the computer, maybe take a look at your sitting posture... could make a big difference.

This makes me want to try psychedelics.
>>
>>598703
Methylphenidate hydrochloride (Medikinet, Tranquilyn, Ritalin etc etc).

I do have ADHD-PI though. Concentrating for me without this stuff is not just hard, it's impossible. I get why people abuse it and I won't judge anyone who scores this stuff illegally or whatever - I just wish it wasn't the case that everyone just assumes that because I use this stuff I must be some sort of tweaker drug-cheat or some puppet of 'big pharma' or whatever; some people do actually have this condition and find functioning in daily life without the medication to be very difficult.

Now a bunch of Pepe-posting Infowars subscribers are gonna hit me with their hot take. Have at it neckbeards.

Not the guy you're talking to but if you're gonna do psychedelics of whatever form I recommend the following:

Prepare, well in advance, for the trip. Make sure you're as healthy as you can be both physically and mentally and just in an overall good positive place.
Before the first and only time I tried acid, I started running again (I was always kind of an 'on off' runner anyway) so I got a good 2 weeks of doing between 2-5k every other day beforehand. I also went onto a full-on cringeworthy hippy diet - carrot juice, loads and loads of fruit, loads of apples and oranges. No sugar, minimal fat. No red meat. Nothing fried. Lots of fresh greens. Drank nothing but mineral water - all the shit you're supposed to actually do to be healthy anyway. No booze, no cigarettes, no intoxicants of any kind. This was all in preparation to do acid - I know, it sounds fucking lame, but it's what worked for me so that I could guarantee my mind was a likely as possible to respond positively to the trip - and it worked.
I doubt all the preparation had any appreciable chemical/physical effect on the outcome - it was just a way of me conditioning myself and proving to myself that I am healthy and in good shape and that nothing is going to ruin me easily.
It was a good experience, had in the summer in a field, with close friends. I've not felt the need to repeat it, but I'm glad I did, and I'm glad I got myself mentally prepared beforehand because it feel even more like it was something I'd done to completion and could put behind me.

However, your mileage may vary; everyone is different etc. etc...

+1

Got myself a lightly used Herman Miller Aeron (retail £1100+) on ebay for £260. Was a good move.

Nobody can stop you if you want.
But do it as he >>598840 recommended.
The only thing i would add is: Always remember set and setting. Start with a low dose or even the lowest dose, and have a trip-sitter available for the first times.
Acid might be too long lasting i would recommend shrooms over acid for an first-timer.

>I also went onto a full-on cringeworthy hippy diet.
>I know, it sounds fucking lame, but....
No it doesn't, and you know why? Because it fucking works and it is the exact same thing one of those indigenous curandero' s would say. And these people are the authority when it comes to tripping your balls off, because they are doing it since ~1000 BC.
Detoxing your body and mind is the first goal in any kind of shamanic practice.
>I doubt all the preparation had any appreciable chemical/physical effect on the outcome
And here is where you are dead wrong. You changed literally everything, your body and your mind and with it your world.

You did not just take a trip, you initiated yourself into an 2 week long shamanistic cleaning ritual.

I stopped drinking coffee, the rush only lasts for a couple of hours followed by insatiable starving hunger, diarrhea-like bathroom call and uncontrollable deep sleep.
Water bottles on arms reach from the computer does the trick. Work in the morning, sleep in the afternoon, keep working night onward until you´re completely tired again.
Reserve render times for only when you´re unconscious on your bed.

Remember that time the natives got owned by a much more developed civilization? Oh wait, we're shooting for exotic bullshit here, my bad, carry on.
>>
>>599653
If you had any knowledge of the topic, you would know that in 2018 its a scientific fact that these practices are working pretty well and better than pharmaceutical chemicals or anything else our "more developed" civilization has to offer.
But you are just talking out of your ass and demonstrating your ignorance and arrogance, so please carry on with your stupidity.

Water, Mixed nuts (lightly salted), crackers and cheeses. I'm getting a mini fridge so I'm probably going to add some fruits and vegetables soon.
>>
A nice run in the morning, adderall, water to stay hydrated, and plenty of sleep. Sugar is the enemy.

>>598703
There's a mountain of peer-reviewed studies that show the opposite, and the decreases in cognition are further impacted with the more you smoke. The placebo effect from you believing this though may be powerful enough to actually give you the benefits that you're talking about.

It does help you keep going like an autist when you otherwise would get frustrated
Also when you're slightly obtuse you can design things differently

Also I don't smoke it or vape it, I just cook it with some food
