Learn with an educational license and then buy it when you start creating assets you're actually gonna use. Maya is cheaper than WoW, and even more if you buy it yearly. You literally have no excuse.

are you mentally retarded?
>>
>>597936
Why would you have bad feelings about pirating Maya? With the rates they're charging, you might as well unless you've got several thousand dollars to spend
>>
>>597969

Actually those fuckers don't even care, they actually enjoy that you pirate their shit, why?, Well:

>Some Somalian Nigger
>download maya 2018
>this fucker masters it
>dude can make ultra quality models in an hour/animate/render
>Ape gets a work
>Then he pays for license or company does
>Profit for AutoDesk
>Autokek 10 - blender 0

They give 3 year student licenses for something

In my country it costs the equivalent to some $20 a month. And Maya LT costs the equivalent to $7. It's not the rest of the world's fault that you're basically cattle to your government and corporations.

lol i live in germany, why is it so much more expensive her? it should be ~155€ when you convert it from dollar, but its 238€.
wtf?
>>
>>598006
Everything is more expensive on the EU because of those taxes than only apply to EU countries (whatever they're called). Look at Steam games and really any other stuff.
>>
>>598007
238€ = 282$
after 19% tax = 228,42$ (with currency conversion fees maybe 220$)

so 35$ more just for one month even if you'd pay 0% taxes in the us.

>>597990
The first thing that comes up when you look up your country is slavery kek. Also I'm in Australia.

>Ultra hard to learn.
this might be true if you follow blender guru tutorials

he introduces cycles in his beginner tutorial and skip lots of important functions, especially for beginners.
that friggin donut and coffee cup barely had any modeling in it, particle usage for the FIRST lesson, and rendering in cycles which requires at least 1 basic tutorial before using it.

also the end result looks like plastic, there was no modeling involved and its completely beginner UNfriendly

do yourselves a favor people and learn from borncg. i know im shilling him at this point but he is the only one that organized all the basics of animation and modeling into a few small episodes

You seem like you'd know something I've been meaning to ask. The short story is that I'm wondering if I should buy these videos:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/588310/Blender_Character_Modeling_For_Beginners_HD/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/373020/Blender_Game_Asset_Creation/
I know the basics of Maya from college and like 4 hours of tutorial, but I mean to get more into modeling using Blende, even though I haven't even touched it yet. Do I need/benefit from these particular videos? Are they worth the money?
>>
>>598291
the first tutorial looks good but i don't know why it says "for beginners". modeling a human body is difficult for anyone.
the second one looks alright but its not anything you can't get for free

if you want the basics start with this playlist.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY6KPrc4uMw&list=PLda3VoSoc_TR7X7wfblBGiRz-bvhKpGkS

lessons 18-33 are all about modeling if that's what ur interested in.
that's alot of stuff to watch but feel free to skin anything that doesn't seem useful
>>
>>598298
btw anything you learned in maya transfers here, so if you can model it should transfer.

but not rendering or animation, you have to get used to blender for that. also utilize the search function (space bar) and left panel (T)
