>This is 2017 state of the art realtime art
Will we ever get out of the valley, lads?

As long as people keep trying to power through it, not for a long while. I'm of the opinion that the more stylized it is the better, like the Star Wars Rebels CG series.

However, I have noticed something weird with the uncanney valley in SFM / 3D porn circles: They get used to it. Something that looks blatantly wrong or nigh disturbing is lauded as beautiful and sexy, and frankly I think normies are like this with videogames such as Injustice 2. They don't know any better and they've seen this weird homunculus over and over.

Personally I think they wanted to make Harley look sexy but then they were like WOAH HOLD UP and she doesnt even have a bare belly.

Even the animated series Harley from the 90s was sexier desu

I would argue it's a case of bad textures/shaders

Realism is a dumb meme. Stylized is superior because it looks good and often will age very well. Realism looks strange and will look terrible in 5-10 years.

As someone obsessed with realism, I hate you, but you're right.

Realism is overrated. I have enough 'realism' every time I look into a mirror.

Clothes look great, but the hair looks like garbage on that sculpt.

Rebels looks like shit and too childish. I'd accept somewhat stylized look, but not the one which looks like a cartoon.

>implying that is even close to the valley
gotta be in the valley before you can get out of it.

Think i agree that it's the textures making it bad.
Her skin on the makeup-less parts doesn't even look like skin. I don't think that engine has the fidelity for realism. So painstaking texture work. OR, stylisation would have served much much better.

I don't think that's entirely the case. 2D games used to have prerendered 3D models that could look pretty good. They just had inconsistent lighting and bad animation. Now that 3D models can actually have the level of detail required to get close to realism i think most modern games with great graphics can last a very long time.
