My CPU (i7 7700k) sucks, its way too slow for baking but my gtx 1080 ti strix is ridiculously faster for rendering 4k animations, around 1 minute a frame with 6 million particles.

When it comes to physics sims, it's all about core count, not single-threaded performance.
Pretty much the opposite scenario in relation to games.
Actually, I think games are pretty much the only scenario that requires high single threaded performance.
