>year = 2027What does /3/ look like? Has blender finally, dare I say, "won"?
>>591990Blender has already "won".Unless Autodesk get their shit together and start actually fixing their bugridden pile of shit, they will be abandoned by the industry in a few years.
Blender has won the low level hobbyist market. In the real market, nobody will ever consider something as broken and useless as Blender.
>>592000How can something that costs nothing be on a "market" when a "market" implies paying, senpai?
>>592002The software is free but your time isn't. The amount of time you waste in Blender, you pay for it. Moreover, Blender asks for donations and sell useless tutorials to support its cult.
>>592003>The software is free but your time isn't.thats a ridiculous justification and incredible leap to put a 100% FREE product on the same wretched steps as pathetic paid shillware like autoderp and founderp and sidederp
In other words, Blender is NOT free, because wasted time is extremely expensive especially in business. Not to mention the fact that the software itself is broken, useless and extremely unpleasant to use.
>>592005>In other words, Blender is NOT freethis is a ridiculous statement
>>592004That "pathetic paid shillware" is something that may give you a job and a future, unlike Blender.
>>592006That is a true statement. You use Blender in your own time and your time is not free. And you'll never get that money back because nobody pays for something made in Blender.
>>592008"free time" is literally a very popular term...defend yourself
>>592009If you choose to waste your free time in Blender, that's your choice. It's a bad choice.
>>592000>Blender>brokenYou what, mateIn what way? It's literally the fastest and most stable 3D package, and it has a lot of features Maya lacks.
>>591990>year = 2027Blender is still who-gives-a-fuck tier, most people stopped contributing to its open-source.Autodesk can't bring anything new to the table, updates are pointless since 2021Zbrush is battling with a new sculpting software that can handle as much but requires a drastically less autistic workflowCGI for games and movies are still eons apart despite what people believe nowVR is as cool and relevant as the Wii is to us right now in 2017Many Maya and C4D fags have switched to Houdini. 3ds fags hold on to the Max.Some folks still claim that PBR is a pointless fadHipsters have tried to bring Softimage back via crowdfunding. They failed and left for Japan with little money they made. The Rock has been 100% digitized before suffering a tragic death in 2024. He stars in 18 movies each year. The uncanny valley is strong.
>>592023>most peopleBlender foundation literally pays people with actual literal money literally collected from actual donations. >the uncanney valley is strongRumor has it more than just The Rock's likeness was digitized and it's his own cognitive dissonance between how he perceived himself and his digitized likeness that's creating the problem. They also say he is learning at a geometric rate and has already undertaken plans to eliminate his enemies.
>>592014>>broken>In what way?Every possible way.>it has a lot of features Maya lacksBut it lacks any useful one.
>>592012That's fucking retarded. What, you're such a brainlet that you have to dedicate your entire life to Autodesk in order to get good with a program? What am I wasting? I know both and use them depending on what I want to do. It's just a fucking program, m8.
>>592023>Zbrush is battling with a new sculpting software that can handle as much but requires a drastically less autistic workflowWhat is the name of this new software? I'm interested but can't find anything about it.
>>592036I'm so fucking retarded. Didn't see year = 2027. However, that would be polybrush I guess.
>>592033>Blender foundation literally pays people with actual literal money literally collected from actual donations
>>591990>year = 2027>What does /3/ look like?say it with me..."blenderdesk".
>>592034>Every possible way.Like the condom that broke when your parents conceived your abortionist self?Neck yourself already.
>there are people on this board RIGHT NOW still using sculp modelingNeural 3d projection is the future, nobody's going to hire you if you can't use it,
>>592065>neural 3d projectionwhen this becomes a thing, the whole of humanity will know real fear as i manifest my subconscious into a hologram.new words will have to be made to describe the experience as "nightmarish" will not suffice.
>>591990Blendlets, when will they learn?
>>592006It's free if you're some hipster playing around with 3D in your spare time. If you're a production company where time is money then no, Blender is not free. If you're an Autodesk client then they have someone available 24/7 to suck your dick if you run into a problem, and that's why major studios use Maya because they need that kind of support and what they don't need is their production being put on hold while they search online forums for a solution only to have some neckbeard tell them "git gud, noob".So yeah, if you're a professional outfit, Blender is not free.
>>592033>Blender foundation literally pays people with actual literal money literally collected from actual donations. This is one of the reasons why Blender needs to fix its broken UI. People aren't even giving Blender a chance because they know the UI is shit and that you're unable to get the software to function until you've memorized a bunch of two and three finger hotkeys (rather than having the memorization of hotkeys be a natural part of using the software overtime). When Autodesk gives away student licenses for free and when all the jobs want you to know how to use Autodesk products why spend time suffering Blender's shit AI when you can just learn what the pros use, faster and easier.Without new people picking up Blender then the percentage of users who will donate drops since most people will only donate to the software once, and new people are discouraged from taking up the software because 1) it does everything ass backwards to every other software, 2) the user base is hostile towards any change 3) the user base is hostile towards anyone who doesn't like Blender's torturous way of doing things. This is why Andrew Price got death threats from Blender Users when he suggested improvements that were needed for the software.
Hopefully by 2027 Blender forks and one fork will be the ungroomed old fatties who don't want Blender to ever change and the other fork will be an actually usable piece of software.
>>592142My workflow in blender is faster compared to max, especially with add-ons like hardops, I love it's UI and learning hotkeys was piss easy because I'm not retarded.
>>592149>My workflow in blender is faster compared to maxHow is that relevant to anything? You could say that about any software that you're used to compared to ones that you don't use.My workflow in 3dsmax is faster compared to Blender, especially with its non-autistic hotkeys and modifiers, I love it's UI and learning a professional software was piss easy because I'm not retardedSee? It's that easy
>>592153You're dumb. I use both softwares and I began learning 3DCG with Max.
>>591990Anyone who shittalks Blender in this thread has probably not used in in years. In fact a year ago i was thinking Blender is still the same shit, but then i saw a video of it, tried it out and had to admit it became a legit program. The biggest reason big companies still use the same programs is because of their pipeline, but Blender could become the future of newer studios.
>>592171Hell, it was used to make the titles for Wonder Woman. Albeit in a minor capacity.
>>592205WW was one of the worst movies I've seen in my life. It literally only became popular because it because of feminists and numales
>>592171>tried Blender years ago>hmm>went with C4D>tried Blender a year ago to see how it came along>uninstall C4D>pin Blender to taskbarfeelsgoodman
>>592171the UI needs more options before blender can become usablefor example retopofow and rigify make blender pleasant to work with, and with stuff like bpainter and bake tool i can see why blender needs a UI overhaul. its not the tools that are bad, but they are simply not accessible, everything is all over the place.
>>592209as opposed to all those instant classic superhero movies, right?
>>592211>everything is all over the placebut it's not.it's directly in front of you.it's like you've never used a software that has panels before.
>>592234i used blender for years and i do just fine.but pretty much anyone that begins using it can't find how to change edge shading and get stuck on the bake options. this is not coincidence and iv seen this happen numerous times, and its due to interface problems with blender. i mean, if i didn't ask i would probably never know how to change edge shading. and if i didn't across a very specific video i wouldn't know how to bake multiple objects. i didn't have to do those things with xnormal or other programs
>>592234Everything is indeed all over the place in Blender and when you finally find it, it doesn't work. That's the general rule.>>592237The baking options in Blender are a joke. On you. Just like the rest of Blender.
>>592234>it's like you've never used a software that has panels before. Not same anon, I know all 3D programs have them. The problem is that Blender's is cluttered (not that other programs are any better, just more organized, which isn't saying a lot).Which begs the question if Autodicksucker user is aware that his precious Maya has that issue too.
>>592257if blender gets improved UI, it means alot. we could have the baking tool replaced with wizard menu (like in xnormal)we could have the texture painting tools be more intuitive (layers and palette settings should be easy to manage) the left panel should have icons for better useblender should come with pre-made lightning setups because it takes too damn long to get the lightning rightoh yeah and the biggest issue. they need to cancel this edge split/autosmooth crap and just let us shade edges like we shade faces and save it to a vertex group in 1 clickoh and i guess the final thing would be is to have quick merge option, merging is a hassle and abit hard to find. i want to be able to quickly weld verticies at final vert without having to navigate and click buttons
>>592261oh and give blender more brushes, more decals, and a dedicated decal tool you can use without having to load up textures.and for fucks sake, don't force the user into creating a new texture for every operation, it should be fairly obvious you can only paint/bake with a new texture
>>592261>>592263That's what always gets me about Blender, it's got decent modeling tools, and its animation (not rigging) tools are okay, but then there's everything else. But the lighting and texture painting systems are horrible and primitive to work with. Lighting especially, since I can never get a good interior with the shitty tools it has. I shouldn't have to keep using expensive plugins to produce acceptable lighting. And even those tend to be a crapshoot at best. But we know they'll never update the lighting systems and lamps themselves. That isn't to say I hate Blender unlike some people, but I'm more than willing to make light of its flaws, speaking as a user for nearly a decade and following its development since 2.49. It needs some serious improvements in many areas in order for it to be better than it already is. And hopefully (key word here) they address some of the more serious problems during the 2.8 builds.
>>592261>merging is a hassle and abit hard to find. i want to be able to quickly weld verticies at final vert without having to navigate and click buttonsJust like hit W and Merge???
>>592261>merging is a hassle and abit hard to findLiterally Alt+M.
>>592290still bad, i don't want to confirm with mouse
>>592205that was great desu, but using it to make the titles is way different than doing actual CGI for the movie. im guessing its biggest flaws are:>quality/speed of rendering>its capacity to manage large scenes and assets for production>>592209....considering its a DC one, I'm not that surprised that it was considered to be great, especially right after the BvS and Suicide Squad disasters. It had some lame or cringy moment, the ending was typical, but it was alright. Just not wanting to kys while watching it makes it just fine.. though maybe that's only because Gal Gadot is so charming.>>592233Yeah m8, Blade ftw
Blender is unusable. You cant do anything to it to change this basic flaw, the UI decisions are just too stupid.
>>592327I took a MENSA test.
>>592326The UI arguably makes a lot more sense than Maya, where every function is put under a random drop down list. There are four fucking drop down lists for basic mesh editing. It's a fucking mess.
>>592330>>592329this is BAIT
>>592331You are bait.Try Blender, brainlet.
>>592329Oh yeah? But did you pass?
>>592332>Try Blender, brainletThis should be their official slogan
>>592331How so? I've used Maya and can confirm that the UI is just as garbage.I get why it's used in the industry, but Autodesk just keeps fucking it up just as much as the Blender Foundation keeps screwing up many basic things too. It's a double-edged sword.>>592321Yeah, they only just used it to make assets, animation was still done in Maya and I believe they used Houdini for rendering.
>>592332You are baid.Try Blender, it's for brainlets.
