Hey bros,

Ever since I was a bab I was always a sucker for particle effects in games. It was the main thing that drew me to a game.

Does anyone have any insight on being a particle artist? Would they solely be working on particles or it would they need to know how to do characters/texturing/etc. too?

Can anyone recommend some relevant plugins or add-ons for this kind of stuff?
maybe not what you really looking for but this guy
is a riot employee who works on the particle effects
the way he puts it your looking more at animation than 3d but the 3d can help you do certain shit
take a look at his videos they are pretty good desu

check out redshift and particle flocker for maya

but yes, you should know other 3d fundamentals as well as particles
