What's a good program for making scifiy environments with angular objects in them? I mostly use sketchup but is there a tool that let's me define hinges for tiltable computer screens or headrests?

Step up to a proper 3D program like Max, Maya, Modo, C4D or Blender and you'll be able to make just about anything.
