Thoughts on LuxRender?

I saw some decent speed benchmarks on it and some renders of nice quality but it isn't talked around, is there a reason? Seems nice, and its free.

It's pretty much a faster version of cycles with less features now. The new API thingo is pretty cool.

I think cycles is a much better option, especially considering the fully compatible eeve is being released soon and they will both be fully integrated into blender, with one button to go from great looking realtime to raytracing. Cycles is much newer and is still receiving loads of improvements.
