Is there anyway to rip the 3d models off of the new Google Earth?
Not reliably or in decent enough quality Supposedly there is a way with something called ninjaripper. I tried taking a video inside GE and then used a photogrammetry software to process it into a mesh. Worked pretty good actually, but the quality of GE itself isn't really good enough for anything imo.
>>579910>>579912these are fucking awesome
>>579936I kind of want GE's fucky quality Especially if I can get it with the textureit's exactly the kind of lo-fi garbo geometry I'm looking for

>>579936how does ninjaripper work?is the model quality degraded in anyway?

>>580351pardon me, non native, but isnt he using A Software ? "photogrammetry" is just an adadtive of software?from your own sourcehttp://www.dictionary.com/browse/uncountable-noun>noun, Grammar.>1. a noun, as water, electricity, or happiness, that"a water bucket"
OP HERENinja ripper is definitely the best way to do this, just not sure how to use it
>>582903Ok so I managed to rip the files and import them into 3dsmax, but i end up with this kind of worm cube. So, any advice would be appreciated.
>>582933I really hope you just ripped smashed trash from some scrapyard, anon

>>579906I spent nearly a week trying to rip models from Google Earth for a... project. I tried everything from Ninjaripper, to HijackGL, GLXtractor to 3D ripper DX. I got GLXtractor to work in old, legacy versions of Google Earth, but nothing that had the fancy 3D city terrain that I/OP want(s). In other words, it's impossible. Take it from me. The solution I ended up going with was learning Photogammetry, and generating a 3D model with a couple hundred screenshots from Google Earth. The program I used was VisualSFM, and that worked pretty good, but there's probably much better free solutions out there these days. Just make sure to avoid Autodesk 123D like the plague.
>>583055What's wrong with Autodesk 123D?
>>582933Have you just been living in a storage locker for so long that you decided it would be a good idea to try and rip google maps meshes?
>>583719What do you mean by this
I've done this before, but I don't remember exactly how. I believe I used ninja ripper. If you can't get it to rip from google earth, try maps.google.com though firefox. If that doesn't work either, try it through chrome.pic related, proof that it can be done.
>>583825send the layout to an artist and ask him to do it for you.i haven't seen a single google rip that doesn't look like shit.
>>583825Hell yeah Personal hero
>>580695'software' is the uncountable noun so it would be like saying "a water". In your example it works because 'bucket' is a countable noun, while 'water' is the additive, but in the previous example 'software' is the uncountable noun while photogrammetry is the additive. So you can't have many or fewer 'software' or 'softwares', the word just applies to the abstract concept of software in general.
>>583872Wrong. The plural of software is softwares.
>>584069i kinda like the sound of softwares, but i really want to spell it softwarezyou think that's acceptable as a regional / cultural dialect?
>>584072Depends on the context. If talking about software as a thing you should say software, but talking about a set of specific products would be "softwares". "A software, two softwares, three softwares..." makes perfect sense since a software is an entity with well defined boundaries. You can't say "six waters" because you don't know where to draw the limit between each entity, but if you were buying bottles of water/cola/juice you could say "give me six waters" just fine (I don't think anybody reasonable would argue that you should say "six water") because the limits are clear. I've been using software before the word even existed, and the english language doesn't even have an academia; nobody (and specifically not a bunch of bitches who compile a for-profit dictionary) is gonna tell me what the right words are, because I know more about software than they do.
>>583825man if you could remember how it was done that would be really helpful
>>583828I /want/ it to look like this >>583825
What exactly is the point of this?
>>579936think i used that once to rip spiderman from a game ages ago, didnt know what i was doing and it ripped the entire city and crashed my pc lol
>>583825cant wait for the resolution to increase on these 3d maps and then rip them and create a game such as a kart racer in your own neighborhood lolthe ultimate future in games would be to have a game set in a familiar area to the player, games are always set in generic american cities,as a brit they are always set in londonno dev would risk making a game in IE bolton..but with this sorta tech it could be possiblecant wait!
>>586738It's my idea
>>583825This looks like shit >>586738Better planning and executing terrorist attacks ?Pretty fucking sure making something like this is not entirely legal , remember back in the day reading about a kid that got kicked out of school for making a cs1.6 map of the school.Shit even hit news..
