Even simple blocky things like Minecraft have some sort of intended design.

The characters ITT are just bad and it's obvious. Nobody will get fooled by some "ugly on purpose" scheme when it's clearly done by an amateur.

That's how M.Dickey does it and he's the absolute best at that style.
