Hey /3/.
I'm modeling Izuku from Boku no hero Academia.
I've already modeled the head, but I have no idea on how I should model the hair.
Help pls

Here's the head with some toon shading

What is that nose tho, try to give some more detail to differentiate mouth from nose, if you're going to put that shader to hide most of topology you still have to care about silhouette

MHA is one of my favorite recent animes so I'm actually really pleased to see you modelling it

when doing toon shading its important to also mix up some handpainting of your own.

you can do it with baking occlusion to the model and mix it with the colors

I'm still doing it.
Btw anon, do you know a proper program to hand paint models? Hand paint on Blender is terrible.

>hand painting when using image based toon shading

GET OUT

Vertex shading + normal manipulation + dot product. Thats it.

l2 toon shading.
>>
>>577168
use bodypaint or 3dcoat
>>
>>577168
you shouldn't hand paint anything on that model. Its all cubes.
>>
>>576836
fuck off
dubs are superior for this anime in particular

Is this a j o k e?

Basically what Guilty Gear Xrd does.

They have a whole GDC conference video on it.

Here is a breakdown of their shader being replicated in blender
volafile]dot]org/r/dbztgkjw
>>
Forgot to mention that it is NOT a tutorial it just a breakdown of what if part of the model and textures is being used for and that it can be replicated in blender
>>
>>577810
So they Unwrap that caracther all cube like to fit the textures?
>>
>>577812
Not sure but I have some of their models. If you wanna have a look.(i don't think the rip i have. Have the simplified normals models sadly)

I'm gonna upload them on the same volafile room,

Some animes have a more 2d style, so usually when you model it directly from the reference it usually looks kind of weird (the best example that I seem to remember is any Simpson's 3d game, the buldging eyes and crazy proportions look fine in 2d but horrible in 3d)
You have 2 options, either adapt your model to your liking or stay as it is
My tips for modelling messy hair, look for fighting references in the anime or manga, since he is usually facing different angles and the pov can also give you a better view on how to make the hair

I'm liking your model so far, and the fix on the toon shading actually looks alright
