Poor cg artist needs helpI'm a self-taught cg artist and I'm very passionate about what I'm doing, the problem is i don't know how to make money.my mistake that i was born in a third-world country where cg has no place, and the sad thing is everyone see me as a loser who good for nothing. If you like I can show you more of my works, and here the list of softwares I'm using:ZBrush, Maya, MotionBuilder, 3Ds Max, SketchUp, UVLayout, Knlad, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Marvelous Designer, 3D-Coat, Unity, Photoshop, Marmotset Toolbag and KeyShot. My computer is not good enough for 3D stuff, especially when it comes to rendering, so yes I need money to buy better one so back to square one.My plan is to make enough money to move to another decent county where I can continue my work and improve myself, but I'm stuck and I'm going insane. any help would be appreciated.
>>572101I'll fall for this bait. Post some of your work and it might just be your lucky day.
>>572101pic obviously unrelated
Pic is totally related, this is one of my work.If you care I will share more.
>>572159can you make something more wholesome?i mean like something that docent looks kitbashed
>>572101Make furry porn. Create a patreon.
>>572101If you can learn to adapt this for games there's a good chance you can move and get a job somewhere.
>>572178Is there something deeper down this rabbit hole or is it just a meme suggestion?
>>572213Meme suggestion unless you want to make your living as a sexual deviant.
>>572216I plan on doing just that when i am actually decent
Why are there no serious answers ITT? I'm in a similar situation, living in a place where the whole country has a <4 CG studios and even those are super small and don't really hire afaik. The only difference is that I started doing 3D a few months ago but I don't know if I would be wasting my time trying to make a career from it.
Same situation as OP. tough luck
>>572362>Why are there no serious answers ITT? its 4chan
Pack your things, buy a ticket to any decent 3d/gaming country (UK, US, Norway, even France) rent a room, get a shit non 3d related job to eat. Spend nights making a 3d portfolio and send cvs everywhere. And get ready to pack your things again and move again. That's what I did.
>>572362You have been given a serious answer, and it's called porn. The Western porn games market is severely lacking in actual games, and as such you could easily receive 200-1,000USD a month for a good setup. The fact that you don't want to commit to porn Pajeet is no problem for me, but when I tell you that these fags are making 5K, 10K, 15K, and 20K+, you best believe that the market is still fresh. I guarantee you could pull out 200-300USD from your asshole a month if you create a barely competent prototype involving cute girls/furries.If you're in such a struggle I once again suggest porn. But since it looks like all you know how to do is kitbash, perhaps you need to just die in your favela. I suppose the other option you could choose to do is make assets for Unity/Unreal, as I have a Russian friend who makes around 1K/Month on the marketplace. It's a type of passive income and he lives off of it since he's a poor fruit. Bless him though, for what it's worth.
>>572432being from the sf bay area and reading that is certainly a weird experience. ill never get used to how expensive it is here compared to everywhere else. 100k is low income in many areas
>>572101Sell your shit. Contact people on the internet that you want to sell your shit. Put your stuff on the net, Unity store, Unreal store, etc. Make a webpage, Twitter. Link all your stores webpages etc.If you have moderate to good advertising, self promotion and networking and are not selling anything, you just need to get better at creating quality work. It's not that complicated. The level you have to reach is constantly rising as new people enter the field. If your level isn't high enough you won't earn any significant money with 3D, simple as that.
>>572101>>572159Show us anything that ISN'T weaponry or armor and don't even try to argue the point, you know damned well why.
>>572432something like this?
>>572998i do agree that the jump looks like shitbut i dont think the rest is that bad
>>573009I wouldn't even download this for free. You might be able to get shekels if you explicitly go after the furry audience. Enough autists there that will contribute even if it looks like total shit.
>>573009yeah go watch Bayonetta animations and tell me if you still believe that
>>573009I can't tell if you're serious.
>>573009you need better models my man
>>572988>>573009Real talk: If you bump up the quality, and make an actual game (in other words: a goal, a failure state, a victory condition), you could legit make a ton of money off this. https://www.patreon.com/fekI was going to link Breeding Season's patreon page but evidently it got cancelled or moved or some shit, anyway they took in 5 figures a MONTH in donations. Play some hentai games, and also those two flash games, to understand the appeal. Basically you have game mechanics that are somewhat of a challenge, but give regular porn rewards, but also make you work just a little bit to get "even more".If you make your character assets modular (in other words make your own character generator for your own use) you can make people's fursonas and charge them a ton for it.
>>572101It depends in what field of 3d you want to work. if you want to work as a character artist for a company, just having zbrush characters in your portfolio isn't gonna help you that much, especially kitbashed stuff. In fact a lot of people dont get jobs in the industry because they don't understand how their portfolio should look and what it has to contain. Just look at what they require in their adds and if you have that and send your cv to enough of them I'm sure you'll fin work:-good anatomy and understanding form (have in your portfolio anatomically correct human and animal characters to showcase anatomy knowledge)-cloth(learn to sculpt cloth or learn MD)-topology and uvs(showcase a wire render and uv layout to show them you understand those things)- texturing pipelines(substance painter/ quixel and or Mari is a must now a days)-show a FINISHED character, preferably displayed in marmoset to show them you understand the pipeline and can integrate in real timeIf you want to be a digital sculptor, you have to get a lot better.
