if Arnold is a CPU only render and vray is outdatedwhat render would you choose to work with a gpu?there are some overlooked options like Corona,Octane,Iray?i don't know if Maxwell is GPU but i have seen some good results
>>564216Cycles m8
>>564218i used cycles for the majority of my work but the problem is the gpu support is not strong and it cause problems for me
>>564220the cycles renders on blenderartists are strong m8 so I cant take you seriously. git gud
>>564224yeah but to make good renders you need time and when your gpu is not supported there is no time
>>564216Octane is worth the full dosh. And Otoy is about to upgrade once more,
>>564258thanks ill look into it
The more appealing a renderer's name it is. Also floating point calculations done on a proprietary GPU produce better pictures than those made on a CPU.
>>564261The more appealing a renderer's name is, the better it is.
>>564262Obv bait.
>>564220cycles gpu support is good tho. even works on my radeon
How is vray outdated?
>>564305This
>>564216V-ray is outdated? How'd you get to that conclusion lmao?
>>564220>but the problem is the gpu support is not strong and it cause problems for meCheck the GPU spreadsheet on BlenderArtists, also are you using the latest version of Blender? There may even be a Nightly build or fork that works better
>>564337i did check it. it said it was supported but it wasn't fucking supported.whatever, ill just render smaller scenes>>564305i think i heard some people say it, not sure when
>>564339Redshift, Octane, CyclesIn that order.Corona is CPU only (but a nice renderer). Don't have access to Iray except in Substance Painter.Maxwells GPU version seems not very good, or we would know about it.There are also GPU/CPU hybrid render. Indigo and Thea can do that.
>>564216Anything beside Arnold and Renderman is outdated, just wait for the arnold gpu update
>>564360Arnold and Renderman are old news. Cycles is the only renderer thats current. Not only current, but f-r-e-e and not run to line some old jews' pockets
>>564362you probably don't know that cycles is backed financially by the foundation but there are other none-jewish renders like lux render/yafaray/mitsuba.you are not paying money for cycles. but cycles is sucking all the money from the foundation
1. Arnold (When GPU support comes the game changes!)2. Octane (Needs 4-8 GB VRAM)3. Redshift (leans more toward video-game look but fucking fast!)4. Cycles (Shadows still grainy)5. Maxwell (physically-accurate but SLOW even on GPU!)5. F Storm (sadly only on Max and legal issues!)6. Renderman (good if you have a farm)7. The rest...Corona,Iray, Mental Ray, V-RAY, Indigo, Thea, Furry Ball all are going nowhere fast.
>>564363>lux render/yafaray/mitsuba.all long dead. Free, but dead.
>>564364Nice rating of renderer's name coolness. Did you pirate them all?
>>564364Experience with Arnold, Redshift, and Renderman, and Vray, can confirm this list
Redshift is the way to go :production proven and the dev team is very responsive. About otoy/octane... i wouldn't touch that. Google 'otoy vs Moore' or 'otoy vs fstorm' if you don t already know about the kind of people that run otoy.
>>564336Vray doesnt even support PBR maps
>>564544V-ray has had physical based material and lights since when it started. What are you talking about?
>>564549Im talking about actual PBR workflow, you know, albedo roughness metalness maps, there is no such thing as diffuse or specular in real life
>>564564most render engines don't have quixel/substance output iray is the only one that is directly native to substance maps but i don't know if you can use it as a plugin for other renderes
>>564564>there is no such thing as diffuse or specular in real lifethere is such a thing as a retard in real life, and that retard is you
>>564569Give me an example of a perfectly diffuse real life material?Give me an example of secular that isn't simply a reflection of a light source.Pro tip, you can't.
