Most people render to a series of images and then convert that into an AVI. They do this encase they have to stop the render or if it happens to die at some point during the render for whatever reason because it allows you to pick back up easily from where you left off. It also makes it a lot easier to edit encase you want to preserve part of the animation or splice into another. As far as how long it takes, that's completely dependent on the duration of the animation and your hardware. Obviously, the more frames, the longer it's going to take.

First of all my sincerest of thanks for your response. First of all i am complete newbie to animation, so please pardon my long explanation and i wud be grateful if you could help in anyway possible.

Last weekend i tried 3dsmax 2018, 3ds max 2017 and maya 2017 to try and see whether i cud import daz models into it.

Whenever i tried importing the fbx model into maya, it had its bones exposed and rigging the model wud always give error when i rigged it and when i tried changing the bone joint lengths to align them properly to the body mesh, the IK rig wud give the error saying the bone lengths have changed and i have to redo all over again. I tried searching solutions for the error for 3 to 4 days with no solution in sight. I even tried youtube tutorials which got me nowhere. Eventually i got fed up uninstalled maya, installd 3ds max 2017 and 2018 and faced the same damn issues there too. Eventually removed that too and now i m in c4d and i have reached nowhere with that too. One thing liked most abt c4d is the ease of use and the interface which is amazing unlike 3ds max or maya.

I am confused and utterly at loss as to which animation tool to use now which wud help me animate daz3d models easily, and there are no good tutorials i cud find in youtube for this.

Please help me and guide me to create some animation using daz models in any 3d animation software.

Is marmoset a rendering tool like vray, iray, arnold etc? How is it different from those? Is it better?

I export genesis 3 figures as .fbx. Genesis 3 is made so that animating it does not need join controlled morphs for proper deformations (one of the reasons genesis 3 was made i think, to allow it to be used in video games), at least I dont notice any difference between bending the figure in maya and bending it inside DAZ studio.

With .fbx export you export the skinned daz figure, at its lowest subdivision level. Inside daz studio you actually see the subdivided version. Since I don't want a low poly ass model and instead want a nicely smooth model I'll subdivide it (I actually do this in 3ds max by first exporting the skin weights with the skin utility, applying tubosmooth on both the exported skin model and the regular model, then applying edit pol modifier on top of both and collapsing and then re-importing the skin weights with skin utilities. This basically bakes the subdivision. It might not be necessary to do, maybe marmoset can deal with subdivision modifiers, and I bet it could be done in maya too.)

Anyway, rigging the figure up in Maya is actually very easy. I just make sure that the figure is in t-pose before I export it and then use Maya's HumanIK to rig the figure up, which is really just point & click bone matching. Of course for the face you need to make a custom rig or animate the bones without one

Idk why you would need to change bone lengths to rig something.

JCM stands for Joint Control Morph. In Maya, they're called corrective blend shapes. Basically, it's a morph calculated to make the mesh look better when certain bones are posed.

Take the knees for instance. When you pose them in Daz Studio, a morph is automatically applied to keep the knee in a relatively normal shape. In maya, without the JCM worked into the rig, the knees kind of swell out and don't look nearly as good. You haveto wire the JCM in as a corrective blend shape, so that when the knee is bent you get the same effect out of it that you do in Daz Studio.

I usually make the rigid parts of clothing with their own bones filled to 100% and then manually place them after the pose. Only if it's a few buckles or what-not.

If it's buttons then I just smooth the weights a few times and hope for the best. Rigidity maps don't do what the name implies. They simply limit mophs transferring to the mapped geometry. So if you apply a rigidity map to the buttons or buckles they don't deform when you apply a morph to the figure the way the rest of the cloth does. They don't make it rigid as far as weight maps go.

Is there a way to "freeze" a mesh in place and pose the skeleton joints individually? I fucked up by importing a posed model into Zbrush and now the rigging is all fucked up.

The skeleton is in a T-pose, but the body mesh has its arms lowered. Autorigging causes the skeleton to take a shit. I know the arms were at a position of -92.1%. If I could put the skeleton's arms in this position without having it affect the mesh (IE move the mesh along with it), I could fix this issue. I'm not about to start all over again.

It's really easy to do in Poser but Daz is a pain in the ass. In Poser you can use the Morphing Tool to easily handle simple issues like poke through or achieve what you want by simply pulling the breast into whatever shape you want. It also allows you to smooth, flatten, or restore areas. It's one of the best features of Poser IMO.

In Daz you have to use the D-Former which is a pain to use because it's setup like Poser's magnets where you have a zone you define and then use a tool that you move around to warp the mesh in the zone you've defined. It's not very intuitive. .

The morph was all done in Zbrush using the nifty import-export functions built into the program, and the face texture was edited in Photoshop! I used numerous references from video footage and attempted to recreate the facial geometry from there.

I'm fairly content with the result, but I still don't feel completely done. My biggest gripe right now is Zbrush janking up the teeth, giving this unpleasant visage, which I have yet to get tabs on. Either way, I'm having fun, so it's all good.

I'm taking Daz as a serious foundation to learning general 3D. I've been watching those affect3D guys and I know it can go further, I think they know that too and are preparing to make a VR game. That's my end goal too.

I bought a handful of things a few years ago but my progress really took off when I started pirating everything.

Go into render settings and there should be something that says exposure or... hold I'll take a screen cap. Set it to 11.XX for now. Experiment with it for better results.

I finally really dived into zbrush. I sculpted this thing in Sculptris and thought I'd turntable it in zbrush. It forced me to learn the program a little more. So now I at least understand somewhat how to use it a bit. I'm feeling like taking another step now. I also want to make a celebrity model. So I'm gonna try that. Then if that works out I'll move it to Maya or Blender. If that turns out good the final step should be using Unreal 4 to make something cool.

There's an importer for Poser content into C4D but I haven't used it in years. It retains the full rig and allows you to load files directly from the Poser library just like in Poser. As far as Daz's newer content I don't know. As I said, I haven't used it in a few years.

Best way to render a video is by doing an image at a time. That way if daz or your renderer crashes, you can start off at whatever frame failed to render.

The only thing a bit annoying is posing limbs, like an arm reaching for a specific object.

So I know this place is pretty dead and this probably isn't going to go anywhere, but I've been having this problem for a few weeks now and I'm just frankly sick of it. I've been trying to amend this problem but I just can't figure it out.

I'm using Zbrush to give my characters wicked proportions, and it all works really well apart from the aspect of clothing.

When I import clothes onto a character that has one of my body morphs, the clothes conform to the new shape just fine. But then when I reload the scene, the fit is broken!

I try refitting the garment, but it doesn't work. Importing any new clothes at this point will also cause the fit to not work properly. So basically, once I've fit a garment to one of my modified characters, as soon as I reload the scene, the clothes fit is all janked up! This applies to hairs, also.

Does ANYONE have a clue what I'm doing wrong here? Or at least how to circumvent this problem? It basically means right now that I can't save a project, and then come back to it some other time, because when I do, the fit will be all ruined and I'll have to start a new document. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Alright, to better illustrate the problem.

What happens is that the clothes no longer conform to the new body mesh. They just stagnate in the vanilla Genesis 3 position. This ONLY happens after I've saved and reloaded the scene!

What I don't know is how to get the garment to adjust to the body mesh as normal, or why it breaks in the first place.
