Instead of unwrapping an object and aligning it on a planar UV map, why not wrap an UV map around an object, aligning it with the normals and making sure it doesn't stretch too badly?
>>557627what is projection mapping for $500
>>557627I kimda have this Idwa for retopo :v you should have points yo ad at places and then, generate mesh around it, then some kind of projection like in zbrush. if someone's gonna automatize retopoing, this is the most logical way
>>557645Explain
>>557627>>557654We have this technology already, it's called Planar/Cyllindrical/Spherical/Auto projections in Maya.
>>557646Hey I kimda have this Idwa for you :vCG is a very active area of computer science research and researchers have huge incentive to develop better algorithms. (Huge $$$ to be made patenting a method and selling it to a studio or software, plus that sweet social status) Your ideas are almost almost certainly going to fail, already have been tried, or don't make logical sense. Get over your illusions of grandeur.
