Daz is shit, whenever you want to actually make something you need tons of addons and assets and then UI is a cluster fuck

The UI is fucking brilliant and customizable.

As for needing tonnes of addons and assets to make something...

A decent vertex modelling program. A decent sculpt modelling program. That's all you need. Then you make all the assets you want.

How do you get renders without all the graininess?
>>
>>552634
Various ways, here is one:

If under Progressive Rendering you set the min and Max samples to 0 and around 12000 it should get rid of the graininess. Also set the max time to about 20000 it usually doesn't take that long to render but it gives it a lot of time to fully render. Also under filtering set Noise degrain Filtering to 2 and noise degrain raidus to 4 or so, then noise degrain blur raidius to 3-5 that should help as well

Anyone know how most of the hair for these models are made? What programs? Could i do it in Zbrush? Small question. I am new to DAZ and from what i've seen, if you pose your character, it automatically positions muscles etc instead of bending like usual bone rigs, i assume they do it with morph targets. If i export my DAZ character to say Blender, is it still possible to have the same feature? For example when i pose or animate the character in Blender that the muscles will bend correctly the same way they do in DAZ? Or does DAZ use some script, that the correct muscle bending only works in DAZ when posing?

TL;DR, I want to animate a DAZ character in Blender with correct bending and movement.
>>
>>553345
pretty sure you'd have to rig it yourself in blender. With all the headache that goes with it.
>>
Kinda like the last question posted but not really...

I have a very difficult time posing in Daz, because when I try to move a single limb or body part, everything else tends to spaz out. Like if I move one leg, the other moves to, or if I move the hips both feet move out of position. The best fix I've been able to find is to pin the limb I don't want to move which only works sometimes.

Is there a way to pose models like a traditional IK Rig, where only relevant limbs move?

I'd like to know this as well.
Some video guides I've seen just pin the root hip node. Others suggest selecting limb by limb and manually rotating/etc.
>>
>>553377
>Others suggest selecting limb by limb and manually rotating/etc.
That's how I do it. When you select a bone with universal tool and click posing tab on the right, you can pose it precisely with sliders and numbers.
>>
>>553371
Are you saying DAZ uses dynamic / inherited movement but doesn't give you a slider to turn it on and off? Pretty much what I'd expect from that autistic software.
>>
>>553387
Turn on IK or turn it off.. I forget
>>
>>553409
Where's the option?
>>
File: lock.jpg (56 KB, 414x387)
56 KB
56 KB JPG
>>553371
You can by locking nodes in the pose tab. However, you need to lock every node above the child node otherwise only the specific locked node won't move. For instance. If I lock the node for an elbow and then drag the hand the entire torso can still move but the elbow will stay in it's current pose. The elbow can still be moved because of the nodes that are still unlocked further up the chain in the hierarchy. So if you only want to move that specific part of the figure, get in the habit of locking all the necessary nodes to prevent them from being moved.
>>
>>553498
that sounds like a ton of effort.
i'm not trying to sound whiny or lazy but that is a surprising amount of work to do in order to simply move a limb independently of the other limbs while still using IK.
>>
>>552576
DAZ is shit for the mere fact that people who use it are shit and are looking for the easy way out to make money or their shit uncanny valley pregnancy fetish shit. No artistic skill needed.

and here i was thinking i was gonna make some low key deviant shit for myself and you're telling me people will pay me to do this?

i'm living the dream baby!

making these is easier than using the sliders to make a custom character in a video game. you tellin' me people pay money for this?

i've seen people dozens of times mistaking Siberianar's muscle girls as real people. People get tripped out by the realism sometimes. Like on pixiv....

If it's good enough for the Japs it's more than good enough for me. It's arguable how much skill it requires. But skill isn't the issue. The fans don't care if you spent 12 hours rendering your perfectly rigged masterpiece. They pretty much just wanna nut.

It's just a different tier of art. Like the way people don't consider porn art, but they worship hollywood movies and indies even if they were shit.

That's were SFM did right, grouping a bunch of cliques together to make Studio FOW and making repositories.

The beauty of 3D for porn is that it is real enough without actually being real and is too new and kinda still considered cartoons. (it's not as focused on as other things)

Leaves a lot of room for creativity.

Its hard. Daz uses a combination of bone movements and morphs, that as far as I know cant' be exported to any program. The best way I've found to do it was through this addon, though it takes some time to get it working perfectly, it suposedly lets you export the morphs as well :

I suppose it's just a matter of rigging the shape keys to the movements by yourself.
>>
>>553944
Nice thanks, i'll look into that. Otherwise i had the idea of simply exporting few posed meshes with single limb movements to create my own shape keys for all limbs.
I just found out you can export morphs with the FBX export too, though i don't know to what degree it will work.

Is it worth trying to learn rigging IN Daz? I'd like to be able to sculpt on the models beyond their mesh limits...when i do this and try to send it back to Daz it only lets me make a new object. I know how to send working morphs back, but i want to be able to do major shape changes and do shit like remake the eyeballs etc. What is a simple and or FREE program you can easily rig an .OBJ in? If there is no free program then what's the easiest to use/learn? Maya?
>>
>>553999
When you are sculpting, are you adding or removing faces? You would need to work on the mesh at it's base resolution.
Though, not sure how the HD morphs work.
>>
So as a hobby I like fucking with photoshop, AE, Ai and all that shit and wanted to pick up 3D art.

>>
>>554109
there are basic morphs you can create in app but to do anything substantial you'll be using a third party app like zbrush etc.
Even then, there are some basic/common/popular base characters you will need. Most cases its Victoria and body/head morphs.
>>
>>554115
Thanks, anon.

Unrelated question: I remember playing old fight night games where you could upload front shots and profiles of peoples faces, put "dots" in certain areas and it'd put the face onto a 3D model. Without seeing the material/shader settings for that water it would be hard to pinpoint. Most likely it's your Refraction Index. If you're new to Daz likely what happened is that you selected the object itself rather than the "surface" of the object. The former is to manipulate the position of the object and the latter is to apply material shaders to it's surface. If you do not select the surface but rather the object then whatever material you tried to apply to it won't work.
>>
>>554000
Normally when i make morphs i try NOT to add more polys/faces because if i do the morph won't work. What i'd like to do is take a daz body into Zbrush...up the detail and maybe redo major areas like the eyeballs/fingers/toes/teeth etc and then re-rig it. If i tried to send something like this back into daz it would lose the rigging it had and just be a new .OBJ...I just want to know if it's worth the trouble trying to re-rig it in Daz or does another program make it easier to rig like Maya....or are they generally the same in ass pain about rigging.

>>554198
I would suggest studying on how water behaves on surfaces and especially skin before trying to do what i think you're doing. Water doesn't generally create rivers like that on the skin unless there's a rapid source like a shower or something and even then it'll follow a particular pattern of flow and shouldn't be spread out like how you've depicted it. If there is no active flow of water the skin will have a general sheen to it with maybe some drips and drops on the surface and hanging off places on the body and also determined by gravity like the bottom of the boobs, fingertips, chins etc. I'd get a bunch of refs of chicks in showers, bathtubs and the like to get an idea. There's a tutorial on how to make skin look wet...

http://thinkdrawart.com/how-to-get-wet-skin-in-iray

The problem with water shaders is that you gotta know how water behaves for it to be convincing. I rendered 2 spheres...the one on the left is the regular water shader, and the one on the right is the Glass Solid Clear shader. I can't tell the fucking difference and i've made pics before with the water shader where it just looked like a giant blob of glass.

>Anyone here has some experience or good tutorials for importing selfmade hair meshes?

No, but I have read tutorials for how to do it.

>Should i apply it similar like conform clothing with the transfer utility, automatically being weightpainted and morph adjusted?

Yes, exactly that. Almost all daz studio hair is like that.
>>
>>554421

How I handle hair is I fit the hair to the figure I've made it for using the transfer utility and then after that if it's long hair I'll add extra bones to the hair to be able to pose and animate different parts of it and I'll also make some basic morphs for the hair as well.

So yeah it's conforming hair but it's rigged to let it pose and animate like dynamic.
>>
>>554126

There's two options for Daz. One is Headshop and the other is FaceGen.

Headshop works with multiple figures and has Hairshop bundled with it which lets you bash edit different hair meshes (but fucks the hell out of the meshes by converting everything to tris so they won't subdivide and it destroys the UV maps too).

FaceGen does a better job of generating the face geometry but it fucks up the eyes completely.

Some of them get very huge. But obviously they use way too many steroids and look way more manly than even most dudes, in the face. They end up having to keep taking steroids to keep the fallout of abuse from happening. Then they either die or turn into disgusting man/woman hybrid and then die. It's super weird. I consider it a body dysmorphia. But as with other things I still consider 3D a form of art and cartoons and I feel it is a guilt free way to enjoy those things. I hear about female body builders dying everyday because their heart was three times too big or they just had a heart attack and died. There's a lot of denial in that culture. I'm pretty sure they're compensating for some super messed up thing they went through. Anyway...

Daz is good for fulfilling a lot of strange desires. And easy enough to use. I just wish it were easier to make shoes and jewelry. AND HAIR!

I just found out that I could use Marvelous Designer for the clothes. I'm pretty stoked.

you know you can import stuff from zbrush and rhino, right? also you could export the daz stuff to (for example) maya or 3ds or blender and use their plugins and renderers to get different effects. you could even make a game in unreal or use your daz stuff all alone to make a visual novel or point and click game. make a patreon. make something. might as well at least try to make something noteworthy.

if you look on the job listings on affect3d it shows a bunch of the programs they use. it's worth looking into. it looks like miro's probably gonna use unreal to make a vr game. probably something like honey select. which would be cool because then our morphs could just be plugged in to it. in art school my teacher said companies want people highly specialized in one thing only. but i said fuck the production pipeline. i'll do it jodorowsky style. i rather lose money to make something i personally love than make money doing shit i hate.

ea and those fucking companies turn you into their personal dream creating machines while stealing a good part of your effort and time.

i agree that daz doesn't look unique by itself. but if you add things in or export the models out i think you can make stuff that goes above and beyond in an easier way.

i think people put their nose in the air without really giving it a chance. its a character maker. no more no less. some people make amazing looking things.

it is possible to take it further though, yes.

So im in archviz and i have been thinking a while about putting some stuff i have done up on rederosity. Lots and lots of modern interior and exterior areas. I feel like my quality is as good or better than a lot of the stuff up there now, but I was wondering if you guys were gonna buy scenes what kind of modern ones would you like?

Asking because right now renderosity is flooded with fantasy style ones. Although I get the desire for these, I know I can do very realistic looking offices, luxury bedrooms/bathrooms etc.

What do you think would be more desired?
>>
>>558888

ok. realistically i would most likely pay for well done fancy hotel interiors, bedrooms mostly. like the ones in vegas or new york. if someone made that i would likely pay for it.
>>
>>558888
>What do you think would be more desired?
I'd try to get scenes that have no direct competition first approved/released first. Than these with least competition or if you can beat quality of existing ones by a huge margin.

Hey I just thought of something: is it possible to share character recipes, provided we use the same components? (GF3, V7, Hayley, etc?)

Because if the were packs given out with all the makings for say like a celebrity for example. Then everyone could share the basic stuff for a vanilla character file.

It doesn't seem common, I've seen the celeb recreations but it's always either paid content or outdated graphics or both.

In theory someone could just make rars with the resources and put them up in a mega. I know some artists readily hand out recipes to recreate their OCs might as well make a community archive.

Any thoughts on this?

Any one know a daz model that has very light skin and light nipples? Trying to make a pale Asian character but you can't see them naked on the daz store to really decide
>>

pirate and preview?
I don't have any asians but a few fair skinned ones are cerdwin and leora.
>>
>>561054
honestly thats what im doing but i only know of two russian sites that link to 'free dl' places that make you wait a while after each download, and dl at slow speeds, so its not exactly practical for just previewing a model.

Thankyou though I don't have cerdwin or leora I will give them a try.

Retarded question:
Newfag here, I just have a question: using that program is possible make models like pic related?, I mean, create a 3D model, respecting the orignal art style of that cartoon?

by default, no but there are some toon-ish characters.

NOPE.
Veins would be glorious if not for the rest of their characters.

I second this. Those guys have some kinda charm in their characters that's hard for me to define. It's like charm of the graphics in certain PS2 games. I realize the irony is that the quality is similar to some people. Growing up looking at 3rdart's totally unrealistic bimbos, it's a style I've grown to appreciate.

I'm new to DAZ3D. Are there any plugins or whatever to alleviate the GOD-AWFUL UI controls in Daz Studio?

I'm used to superior UI controls like found in Sketchup, Blender, 3ds, even shit like Outfit Studio and TK17. Daz seems to frustrate even the most basic functionality like navigating the 3D viewport because of how horrendously designed the controls are. Had the same problem with Poser. Is there any way to control all the camera movement in the viewport with just the mouse, instead of using WASD, and some way to have a proper orbit camera that isn't just some bogus workaround because the devs are incompetent? Honestly though I'm just venting. I fucking hate how these programs have all this functionality but the very basics like camera control seem to get completely overlooked. I can throw together a decent pose in that shitty TK17 in less than five minutes. There's no reason I should have to spend 45 minutes getting the same results in DAZ/Poser just because the developers are retards who can't implement proper controls. I'm pissed off at this shit.

Different anon here.

Is it possible to import the obj back into Daz and have it retain all the functions on the vanilla mesh? Like all the joints, IK rigging, facial expressions, etc. When I import it back in, it just acts as one cohesive mesh, if that makes sense.
>>
>>561352
Im not sure I understand your question but

1) yes you can export from daz as fbx and obj
2) depending on the options you choose to keep in hte model when you import them back in you can keep what you exported
>>
>>561353
Well, what I mean is, when I import the .obj back into daz, it doesn't have any bones, for example. so I can't pose it or really do much at all with it, nor can I change the facial expression or any of the things I can do with the vanilla mesh.

My workflow so far has been -> Export obj from daz -> Import into blender -> Sculpt -> Export obj > Import into Daz.

You need to look up how to make morphs on youtube. The feature you want is called the Morph Loader Pro, I think.

AMD card, that's why. Without an nvidia card with those cuda cores, iray is slow as fuck. Yours isn't a bad gaming card, but that's why your renders are slow. It falls back on CPU rendering.

Indeed, would still prefer to not have to move to the side and select that button. 3DS/Blender/Maya all have it. I'm pretty sure its doable in Daz via key binds though.

Just modified via F3 settings, MMB works or whatever you want.

Hate to bog the thread down but I don't know where else to go.

I've been trying to broaden the skeleton around the shoulders of this character to account for more muscular body proportions, but I can't figure it out.

Left is vanilla Genesis 3 skeleton with my morph applied on top of it. Right is the kind of breadth I want for the shoulders, but as you can tell I had to deform the skeleton to get it that way. That makes posing impossible. If I try to use "Adjust rigging to shape" it just reverts to the one of the left.

I've been googling but can't find anything in regards to editing the skeleton that suit my needs. I need to broaden the shoulders but don't know how. Can anyone help?
>>
>>561495
Hmm. Nevermind, I think.

What I did was I broadened the shoulders in the Zbrush mesh instead, then imported that as the morph and adjusted rigging to THAT instead, and it caused the skeleton to morph into pretty much what I was looking for.

Try lowering the iterations if you're using iRay. The default is overkill and assumes you have a 1090 n shit. Just go to your render window and it should be in general or preferences or some shit.

Anyone know anything about doing good looking furs in DAZ?

To be specific, im trying to make several big fox tails to put on girls.

I have looked into LAHM but its pricey, though I don't mind paying for it if it can do what I want.

Wow! You REALLY have to put some cream on all that butthurt of yours.
>>
>>552951

There are still plenty of people using 3Delight but only if they're making NPR renders. 3Delight is a hell of a lot faster than Iray for NPR.
>>
>>553999

Daz is pretty easy to rig in once you get used to it.
>>
>>554109

Daz is just a rendering/animating program, you'll need a modelling program too (Zbrush, 3Dcoat, Hexagon, etc). Make your models in your modelling program. Import the OBJ into Daz and then rig them, pose them and render them.
>>
>>554304

Keymate, Graphmate, and Animate2 are needed if you're going to be animating.

MCasual has a whole bunch of physics related scripts for adding physics to Daz animations too which you should get as well.
>>
>>562383

I figured it out. You either have to stick to using the rig or stick to using the sliders. I was having the same problem as that guy earlier.
