how would i go about making something like this?
>>
>>549029
There used to be a nice tutorial on it for Blender in Cycles but the idiot hosted all of the images on a temporary host and only half of it was archived so it's missing all the actual innards.

The basics of what you'll need to look for are: Procedural lava material Blender Cycles

You're better off looking for it yourself on YouTube, got basically dialup here.

I tried it myself for the hell of it.
It looks alright enough.
Only thing weird are those sections that are red in the middle of the lava.
Not really sure why it's happening, but I'm sure it's an easy fix with some tweaking.
>>
>>549082
kek
>>

>alright enough
It's not even alright. It looks fucking horrible and not even remotely similar to OPs image.

>>549453

Like I said before, in >>549470
I didn't make anything from scratch, it's just a copy of the nodes earlier in >>549080

I just thought I'd save the other dude from trying it himself.

Not him, but it does look subpar. >>549552 is currently the only one that comes close, and it needs to lessan the displacement for the fire/lava.

Download some sharp rock dispacement map.
connect a ramp to it that is red and yellow in the deepest areas of the displacement.
Done

I used the procedural fractal in maya so the details doesn't look the same but i think most of the other stuff is fairly similar.

I think I might create a lava material for you guys in Substance. What I've seen so far is mediocre.
>>

Don't waste your time.

>>
>>549854
I've seen it, but I don't think it offers enough customization options.
>>
>>549852
I actually wouldn't mind that.

I don't really have anything I'd need lava for, but I still wouldn't mind having it.
>>
>>549552
who would someone credit this to?

me haha
