Any tips for low cost ingame fur ?
>>
>>545140
Fur is rarely ever used in games. You would need to use or program a complex physics system for the hair that could calculate each fibers movement based on variables within the game. Even large companies have trouble with this shit.
>>
>>545140
maybe neofur?
>>
for a game it's pretty much gonna be planes with alpha channel textures. But you can also get away with a good regular texture if it's something with a smooth coat, or some stylized fur with modeling.

I answered your question, take it or leave it.

same furfag

>>545287
Actually looking at the replies and posters, it's 8 posters 10 replies. You both replied once to the other person so there is no samefag. Nice try.

>it's 8 posters 10 replies.

Count the posts dipshit. Two posters replied twice to the thread; 2x2 = 4 = 8:10. Now that you've replied 3 times it will be 9:12. Now that I've replied twice it will be 9:13. It's called math stupid.

Pic related, it's you.

fuck off retarded samefurfag

I came back in here to say you're even more retarded than I thought. Originally I was just talking about the typical /3/ poster that has nothing of value to add and just says pointlless shit like, "that looks like wood". That adds nothing to the point of the thread or the post that you're replying to. Now you've sunken to tuning everyone out because of your retardation by calling them samefags.

I guess it depends on look, but if you're looking for something with some depth. I recommend using this method. The results are pretty incredible and work well for things like foliage or other assets require layering.

Can you export the shells to a game engine? Or is fur like this only possible with the Marmoset renderer? Are the shells animatable?
>>
>>545235
>>545355
To be honest it doesn't look like wood, but it kinda looks like the time I fapped coming back from a week-long camping trip with my family (no fapping) and I jerked one out. I came on a sheet of paper and put it back in my desk. I forgot about it for nearly a year and when I found it again, it had a similar texture and consistency to the image posted above.
>>
>>545439
Yea but you're gonna have lots of problems with alpha transparency rendering. You can use cutout shading too but then they will look solid rather than soft and fuzzy.
>>
>>545441
So what's the point if I cant' actually use it in any games

Portfolio pieces.

The soon to be released Marmoset (tm) engine.

Works fine in Unreal, but you'll have to tailor the shader to get the results you want. As it is in any application.
>>
>>545447
you queue the materials to render them so the outer shells render on top of the bottom ones right ? Still I hate that we still have to deal with transparency ordering issues in games.

This is me.

>>545355
This is not me. You're making it look like it's just one person calling out that idiot who cries samefag, it's multiple anons.

>>545358
>>545359
We are multiple people calling the anon autistic for his stupidity. Stay assblasted you failed primary schooling/middle school. The Patrick jpeg is a pic related of you(s).

>>
>>545450
Do you even know what getting baited means? That anon is obviously just trying to piss you off and you are gullibly falling for it.
>>
>>545501
I agree he's baiting but in the beginning he wasn't. He was that stupid he couldn't count and now he's just shit posting.
>>
>>545528
you are the only one shitposting here anon
>>
>>545545
The fact that you didn't know how to count post and posters and then proceeded to scream samefagging is shitposting anon. And if you pretend you aren't the guy who said this then you're samefagging. Peace out, this thread is dead because of the guy screaming samefag. The bait is real.
>>
>>545546
actually this thread is dead because there is no proper way for making ingame fur :(
>>
>>545442
>So what's the point if I cant' actually use it in any games

Write your own game engine that supports "shell based faux tessellation", or make enough money to start your own company so you can hire someone to do it for you, you fag.

Do you want me to chew your food for you too?
>>
>>545447
Can you show us the nodes you did for that material?
>>
>>545554
NeoFur is your best bet mate. It's simplistic for Indie developers and isn't hard to use (source: me). It's at least worth checking out.
>>
>>545159
That'll just make my pc explode
>>
>>545234
How does this work? Is there a glsl implementation of this?
