I use Daz Studio to create basic references for 2D illustration. I also enjoy making props, figures and clothing to use in Daz Studio with 3D Coat and Hexagon. I also enjoy making morphs for Daz Studio figures and I enjoy sharing the fruits of my labours with other Daz Studio users and seeing what they do with them.

I enjoy doing that. I don't need to find any reason other than my own enjoyment to validate my use of Daz Studio.

Why my enjoying working with Daz Studio and creating content for it should bother you is beyond me. It must be terrible to be so easily distressed by people enjoying things that you don't.

I actually play SL and the character model quality you'll find on there is nowhere near the quality of daz3d models, same goes for lighting and shaders.

There are a lot of shitty daz renders because most people who use it are amateurs and don't really care that much to set up good renders inside daz or outside, but that doesn't mean the models itself aren't fucking great.

Assuming it's like a shapekey it'd need to have the same topology. If you could get the base head and tease it into that shape with ZBrush or something and bake the textures to Daz's UV mapping that ought to be the brunt of it.

In Blender I think I'd overlap them, adjust Walking Dead's scale to match Daz, and then sculpt it from moving large hunks of mass into place and then refine down to small details, maybe even apply a shrinkwrap modifier so it sticks to Left 4 Dead a little snuggly where you mask in the effect with weight painting.

I don't think it'd be the worst thing to do, just cut it into a few hour or so work sessions over a week. I mean once the textures are baked to it it'll look really similar, if not virtually the same since all the wrinkles and other such details are stored there.

I think you can do it!

Nah, the programs that claim to do it like Faceshop / Headshop and Facegen just make a really general 3D model of a head and stick the texture on top which supplies it with all the baked lighting that gives the impression of shape. The difference in detail between that and Gen 3 is massive.

I used to use DieTrying's 182 morphs to make faces since there's a slider for almost every anatomical feature but after I learned to geograft it just became easier to convert the game model to quads, cut the head off and then geograft it to the Genesis body.

I think I prefer Gen 2, it's a little more cartoony and I can lean into that pretty well. Too bad all the good sliders I have are Gen 3.

Now I just have to get the head to be more stylized and I'm going to inevitably need to paint in some details, unless I can sort of cheat highlights on fine details with Blender's dirty vertex colors.

Any ideas for getting the Sims 4 look with geometry and shading?

My current nodes setup involves object space normal's green value *-0.5+0.5 to get a white to black top down, combining it via multiply fac 0.5 with approximate AO output via extended material in the materials nodes with a color ramp to adjust contrast, then using a thin rim made from the normal's blue value and a color ramp as the fac for a curves adjustment for some rim action, then a color ramp.

Might try extracting and stylizing details from the original Daz textures and using that alongside the AO for the face.
