Ultrarealistic rendering is a method of rendering, what you see in the OP picture is more of an artistic style, which is not the same, you could probably get a very similar result in real-time with maybe less detailed hair.

Gantz's anime style is still anime, just a bit more realistic, which is very prominent in seinen manga. The cg end of it just comes out up being anime with a realistic treatment, as opposed to standard cg anime which just gets toon shaded.
