Do you mean box modelling ?
sculpting is poly modelling
>>
>>532069
first and best.
>>
sculptor.

the guys under me can work out all the annoyances of retopo my shit.
>>
>>532058
Started on polygon modeling and am now integrating sculpting. Honestly you should be both.
>>
>>532268
This lazy faggot right here.
>>
>>532058

im whatever the task at hand needs me to be
>>
>>532268

I wish I had a slave to do all my retopo. I'm literally unlearning sculpting while I'm doing it for a week.
>>

>"the guys under me"
what are you, a 3dcg dominatrix?????
>>
>>532337
In some agencies this is the difference between a graphics designer and the media designer
>>
>>532058
I feel like if you can't do both you're not taking 3D seriously.

>you're not taking 3D seriously
That's actually the problem with most on this board.
Literally every faggot here is in for the money and to get ~into the 3D industry~. There are dozens of threads about this in a month.

It seems like for most it's virtually beyond comprehension that some are into this shit for the shits and giggles, like others play games all day.

It's not just the problem with this board. It's a problem almost everywhere.
They don't give a fuck about modelling, texturing, UV's, topology, rigging etc because it's 'boring' and think they aren't going to do it in the future anyway because all they want to be is art-director.
I love a skilled art-director, but these people don't realize becoming a well payed art-director takes even more dedication than becoming a good generalist.
Shit infuriates me.
>>
>>532268
>the guys under me
You mean the guys who are superior to you both in technical knowledge and work ethics?
>>
>>532503
You should not get angry but rejoice.
These Idiots will never be Art directors.
>>
>>532505
Idea guys like me are the reason we even have a project in the first place.
These grunts should be grateful they have an opportunity to earn a paycheck at all.

> never heard of concept artist

> never heard of "sculptor retopo your own fucking garbage and better make it good, the rigger/animator will make you do it again if you're too shit to create actual loops and put triangles everywhere"

> thinking he will start working at Ubisoft with 200 people on one game and not at a shitty wannabe games company that makes smartphone stuff

fucking retard.

Yous seem mighty jelly of my $300,000 minimum starting salary as a Videogames Idea Guy for a major publisher.

roleplaying is allowed now?

i'm only here for the memes. why else would anyone go on 4chan?
>>

kek, meet few 'specialists' like here in certain studios - noone likes you, you produce shit content that is only plausible to look a t screenshots. Shitting on your own team pipeline is really bad for everyone, but you dont care, right? Enjoy your unemployment - as the one who sculpted shit, you're the one who is supposed to provide unwrapped LP with normalmap / ambientmap / whatevermap the guy that is after you tell you to do so - baked maps.
>>
poly modeler, but i accept that sculpting is the future.
>>
>>532565
How's it feel to be 15? Bet you still believe you'll amount to something one day don't you?
>>
Polygon modeling and then sculpting for details. I've never done sculpting from scratch before, plus with polygon modeling I don't have to retopologize
>>
>>532058
Wait a minute...I just realized those people in the pic are 3D models too!
>>
sculptor. But i used to poly model so i use it to retopo
>>
>>535834

But in a way you still need to do a correct flow of the polygons, right?
>>
Poly modeller. I've only ever done man-made objects and have never really attempted humanoids, characters, animals, etc. It's just never really interested me that much. Sometimes I think I'd have been better off going into CAD/architecture design. I can do sculpting but only basics, usually just to add additional detail. Maybe I'll learn it someday.
>>
Modeler. Sculpting wasn't even a thing when I got my start, and I never quite got the hang of it.
>>
>>534720
Not him, but
> Bet you still believe you'll amount to something one day don't you?
I'm sorry, anon.
>>
>>532090
he means clearly, placing each individual polygon into place for it to form a proper object.
>>
I am a CHRISTIAN.
>>
what if I'm a real clay sculptor? can I get into the industry like this?
>>
>>537296
>can I get into the industry like this?

Yeah. Pixar hires clay sculptors ("traditional sculptors"), one gave a talk at a Zbrush thing a couple years ago.
I hear Zbrush's tools and concepts pretty closely match traditional sculpting such that going from clay to digital is relatively quick
>>
>>532058
Poly modeller.
I still have yet to completely comprehend the usage of loops though.
Like, I've ended up in situations where I've managed to create loops in such a pattern that I can increase the mesh resolution in critical parts before, but is that the point?
