>autodesk made a new car where the engine you has to buy additionally

dropped again.. back to blender.
>>
>>530495
What exactly are you talking about ? I'm downloading it just now so I have no idea what they changed.
>>
>>530510
Also, I've never used Arnold renderer before, anyone has experience with it ? Is it better than mental ray ?
>>
>>530493
Only if you use batch rendering.
>>530495
Bullshit, Arnold is perfectly usable.
>>530510
Mental Ray is gone, Arnold is standard render. If you want to render on more than one node you have to buy additional licenses.
>>530511
Depends. Its way easier to set up, and it gives a perfect result given enough time/ renderpower.
But its not perfect for architecture, especially indoors.
It runs only on CPU so its slow but very stable even with billions of polys.
>>
Really curious to see how this effects other renderers. I'm using Vray for the most part but I think this could be a good time to change.
>>
>>530642
Just learn Arnold, should be easy for you if you know Vray already.
But keep using Vray and/or add Redshift in the mix and you're set for every render situation.
Arnold is superplusgood, but slow.
>>
>>530688
Why would I keep Vray if I'm using Arnold? For archvis stuff?
Redshift looks interesting too but I've yet to try it.
>>
>>530690
Because you want to have options, there is no "one fits all" solution except maybe this one.
Having one slow but physical plausible renderer, one super fast, and one which could be anything in between.
If you render in passes you could even mix them.
>>
Can one of you colossal faggots explain to me what Arnold is for laymens terms!

Also when people say render, arevtalking about when you press render and it shows you what your model looks like? Because it normally takes a few seconds.

>>
>>531311
you can easily buy something used cheap off ebay.
>>
Batch render in Arnold is the only way to render an image sequence isn't it?
>>
>>531365
Apparently, there is this new thing called 'Render Sequence', which looks like it can render image sequences (Duh) as well as AOVs.
