They're not keeping up with the times and giving shitty yearly updates despite trying to jew users out of money.
> Modoliterally what ?
>>526306It's made by brits, which is questionable to me, but it's supposed to be good.
>>526309I don't think anything can surpass the autojew products. Never tried Modo but by the looks of the trailer, there is nothing you can't do in Modo in Max or Maya.
yes since a while agothere are still some plugins for maya not available for modo and rigging/animating is still pretty subpar but other than that it's better in every way
>>526311Modo beats Maya in terms of modeling. Uving is also great. Thats it. Maya can do all of it, but is slower, and clumsier to use.Don't know much about Max so i can't compare. But i do know that Modo will not surpass Autodesks M & M in the near future, not as a whole package. But they will surpass Cinema4d in the near future.
>>526326Blender surpasses Cinema4d anon.
>>526304Last time I checked Modo pretty much was as buggy and laggy as MaxThat aside it does a lot of things better than MaxBut some areas are also worse and less intuitiveOverall I quickly went back to Max after a few weeks
>>526366not anytime soon as a whole. But in terms of modelling and Uving and game related stuff its already above/beyond C4d.
>>526398>But in terms of modelling and Uving and game related stuff its already above/beyond C4d.>in terms of modelingWhat?
>>526304I use modo steam edition they are a pretty cool company and gave everyone a free update from the prior version. I have had a few problems with it. Symmetry seems to break quite often. Symmetrical Uv's are the same deal. It's pretty seamless to go from modeling to a bit of light sculpting then projection texture painting. If I had a choice I would use Max but it's too expensive.
>>526408Blender is a better modeller than Cinema4d.
>>526467Easy to use man. Modifiers and shit.
>>526304buggy alembic implementation, nice rendering shading and lighting, slow animation playback,
I use modo indie and love it. Former maya user for modeling. Maya will prolly always be the king for rigging and animating, but modo is soooo good for modeling. Just feels more modern. Yes, you can do the exact San in Maya, but it takes so much longer to set up, or some things you cannot do simultaneously so it takes a lot longer.>>526386>Overall I quickly went back to Max after a few weekModo has a steep learning curve, but was worth it in my book. Also, modo does not have history/modifier stack, but you don't miss it.
>>526451Sketchup is better for modeling than c4d
>>526304I would say yes definitely. We have moved all of our daily 3D production over to Modo as the modelling, UVing and rendering capabilities in Modo are pretty much unmatched in a single package. The modelling tools especially are fucking delightful to use. It's clearly been designed as an artists program from the ground up and the new 10 series has some great improvements to game dev workflows specifically. I recommend it to pretty much everyone I meet.
>>526304animation playback is slow. in maya you can have a very complex scene with lots of geometry and move the viewport with no problem. in modo you get crash after crash. they ruined a perfect software and made a buggy piece of shit
