Newbie Mel question.
How do you combine variables and strings in a Mel script?

I want to make a blendshape node with a new name consisting of the original objects name and then some text after it, but its giving me syntax errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

$OriginalItem = `ls -sl`;
select -add Sphere02 ;
blendShape -frontOfChain -name ("$OriginalItem + BlendShapeNode");

It gives me "Illegal operation "+" on data of type string[]. // "
>>
This error is weird. $originalitem shouldn't be in quotes but this isn't the error that should be produced. Are you sure you wrote the code into the post correctly?
