it is pretty good base for animation but it needs more definition around the eyelids and the sides of the nose. it's also missing the nostrils so its not quite animation ready yet.

Eyelids I can do. I don't know how to add more topo to it without messing with how it flows into the forehead. I know it's possible, I just don't know how to approach it.

Nostrils are intentionally omitted and will probably be textured on, because anime.

that nose area won't look good under any kind of deformation, try something like pic related instead

you probably want to reduce your loops higher up on the forehead as well instead of right on the brow

also you don't need that many loops around the mouth, you have a weird balance

Here's what the mesh looks like smoothed, by the way. I'm still going to touch up the face topo, probably before I extend down to the neck.

The alternative to a face rig would be just morphing it, but I'm worried that would look robotic. Ideally I'd want a mix of both.
