Hey guys, just got my hands on this sassy piece of software, couple of questions...First of all I've never textured anything ever. My question is, how well would this program work for things like making a higher res texture that already exsists? Think like a texture for a character thats like 512x512 and I wanted to crank it to 4096x4096. How well would this software let me kinda tweak and clear the texture up?
>>517914Its more suited for a pbr workflow. If you just want a 3d projection painter get Mari or 3dcoat.
>>517919disregard this op
Okay so I got a low res texture, what would I want to do to upscale it and have it not look just blurry and crappy.
>>517914>First of all I've never textured anything ever. Then this program will do nothing for you.
This will not clear up anything for you. Work will actually be needed. You will need to adjust or re-paint whatever texture you are trying to high res. Substance lets you export out to 512 all the way to 4096. That does not mean it will take a low res texture and high res it.You can take a high res and make it low res. It does not magically do the work for you.
>tfw spent all scholarship to buy this>Painter 2 comes out a week later>you have to pay for itaaaaaaaAaaaaAAAAAaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I have a 50% off on Painter 2 on steam. Anyone need it?I can't afford it.
>>518503>tfw on the subscription service>fuck, im gonna have to add it and pay more than $20 a month>check downloads anyway>substance painter 2 installed within 0.0004 seconds>still only $20 for access to all products until payed full value
>>517914Is this any good for hand painting, I got Quxiel as it was on sale recently and i'm happy about buying it.But i'm told painter is better for hand painted textures.
>>518510I don't think its better for handpainting. And i am using mostly Painter instead of Quixel.
>>518508Hey if you're offering I'll take it, I've got substance designer but having painter as well would be a huge help.http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198062205551/
>>518503"If you purchased Substance Painter 1.7 after February 1st, please contact us directly and we'll hook you up with a free upgrade! " this is on steam so contact them
>>518508>>518538if in the end he doesn't want it ill take ithttp://steamcommunity.com/id/blaking707
>>518510quixel is a photoshop plugin, you can't get better hand painting software than photoshop
>>518997True. Since you can use the regular Photoshop brushes you have much more options than in Painter. But for traditional handpainting in 2D i prefer Krita over Photoshop.
>>517914Here's a thing in Substance painter, it's pretty easy to get the hang of, and you can get decent looking thing quickly.
