I have one photo of a girl I want to model in Maya. Pic related isn't it, but it looks roughly similar; a 3/4 view of her face. What's the quickest way to make an accurate mesh of her face?
>>

no

>i have nothing to contribute
facegen faget
>>
>>509194
That's from www.3d.sk/

Depends on the software, but you put a 3d head in place and shape it to the side profile, and ......front view

You mean other than sitting down and modeling her?....
Also why quickest, just the fuck down lazy ass and spend on it as much as needed.
Dont settle for the quickest, but for the best.

This is the traditional method, which means adjusting a head wire frame to pictures like this.
>>
Thanks for the replies, but I have one photo at 3/4 view. That's it. The girl has moved away.
>>
>>509206
which is why i said no, obviously you dont know what the fuck you are doing, and not having decent reference of the girl. if you dont have a side and front view, you will be left with a model that doesnt even look like what you were going for. at that point its just better to find good reference and learn how to do it. you will never get really nice likeness off of one 3/4 view.

>hey guys i dont know what im doing and i dont have good reference.
>tell me how to do it, and fast.

fucking n3wfags

want some actual advice on the quickest way? go find her and 3d scan the sluts face
>>
>>509206
Then you wont do it unless you train your eye to recognize forms well enough from the shading alone, and even then its unlikly it will be perfect

track down, learn where she lives, drug her, take pics of her or just ask her for some

Part of your job as an artist is being able to interpolate missing data. OP could easily use facial symmetry to get a similar appearance to his reference and then compensate when he has a more complete model.
>>
>>509194
Try this.

>>509207

I think it's you that seems to not know what they are doing, since you think there is only one right way to go about the task.

You have one mouth and two ears for a reason, anon.
>>
>>509259
do you even know how unsymmetrical faces are? it would look so far off likeness wise it would be insane

and we are talking about likeness, not design of a character that an asshat concept designer didnt bother making atleast basic proportions to help a modeler. they just herp derp heres a 3/4 view with a akward pose and wierd camera angle.

i think concept designers should be able to block out a front and side sketch in a tpose. if your character looks awesome in a tpose, it will never look shitty since a tpose is the most boring thing ever, if they do this we might actually get better designs out of hollywood and shit
>>
>>509281

You're either trolling or a complete beginner. Of course concept artists do a tpose, or more accurately, a turnaround or character sheet, for every character design. The 'concept art' that is released for public consumption tends to be made long after designs are finalized or in some way better for hype building purposes than a turnaround. Turnarounds do get released on occasion, of course, but even stuff you never see the turnaround for had one (actually, probably a couple dozen) made.

Maybe you should try out Hexagreat 3D.

It's much harder but not impossible. Stay bad, stay mad.

>>
yeah you're going from a photo so, lack of adequate reference material will make "cloning" a specific set of traits almost impossible. You could use the girl in OPs image but it would be a completely different girl.

Best bet for you, my friend, is draw a front/side view using paper and pencil with OP's photo as reference, that way you will have a passable reference.
>>
>>509281

>implying concept artists don't already do this

>implying an artist's front and side views ever line up perfectly

>implying 3/4 isn't insanely valuable to get a feel for what the character actually looks like in 3d space

also

>herp derp heres a 3/4 view with a akward pose and wierd camera angle

yeah, what about it. pretty much you're expected to be able to work from this.

maybe know what you're talking about before you get on an assblasted rant.

kek. btw that website (hosted in Slovenia of all places) is fucking amazing. oddly enough i discovered that if I'm not careful to browse slowly i will exceed some imaginary download limit and the server will actually block my connection and I have to either proxy or reset my router to access it again. Also, if I wanna look at the naughty bits I need to pay hundreds of dollars per month for premium access.

Tried to do the impossible and reach the likeness of the lady's face just from looking at that photo and sculpting it. I think it is possible to achieve some sort of likeness but you must spend a lot of time sculpting and I doubt that a full accuracy could be ever achieved. Training is your best friend here apparently.

If you want to achieve an accurate likeness you propably have to use some technical tricks to get the correct measurements and ratios of the face. Me thinks.

>Also, if I wanna look at the naughty bits I need to pay hundreds of dollars per month for premium access.

You get 10 downloads a month for free. That should be enough to get front and side closeups on face and body. Shouldn't need more than that unless you're projection mapping. If you're there strictly for the vag, there are better sites for that.

We're talking about 3D.sk are we ? Then how do you get free downloads.
>>
>>512039

I think you hopped too quickly into finer details.

There are volumes that are wrong just from looking at the picture.
>Nose doesn't recurve in before meeting the forehead
>Corner of lip lands higher up
>Chin should be sharper
>Forehead flares out too much
>Zygomatic/brow not properly defined

Also, is that a dude.

1/3 of those "trannies" were not trannies, including the piggu nose girl which is a popular tumblr girl who posts drawings and stuff. The rest are known pornstars and B-list models, not trannies. Only the rest 2/3 are trannies.

>>
>>512111
You could have made her look less like herself so she wouldn't have those neandarthel features
>>
>>512111

Hard to tell if we don't know who its supposed to look like. But it seems to be quite far away from the uncanny valley.

What software did you use to texture the skin and lips ? Did you entirely model in maya ?
>>
>>512111
looks good mane

the eyes need some tweaks
>>
>>512111
>>509198
>>509194
Looks good, but OP's reference has a slightly smaller mouth width which is cuter in my opinion. Nose is more narrow on OP. Jaw is shorter on OP. OP's looks younger, more pixie-ish.
>>
>>512111
Well the orientation of her head from the side ref and the front ref is different. The side ref seems more straight on while the front she seems to have her head tilted up a bit. Was hard to get an accurate likeness. Would the iris be a somewhat good universal unit of measurement for a human face? Used DAZ...been trying to get better at making models of 2D characters into 3D as well as real people.

>>512153
Yes, it is not easy but those little tweaks will make a difference. Although it is close, but not quite there.
>>
>>512163

Jaw goes almost straight down in the ref, and the cheekbone is more subtle.

What software did you use to texture skin/lips and model the head ? Did you tweak it in a sculpting software ?

Used DAZ with standard skin texture. Just dial twiddled for about an hour. I'll tweak it a bit later maybe.
>>
>>512189
stop using daz please
>>
>>512202
Why? Daz is super easy to use for what i want to use it for.

Is there very expensive software that can semi-accurately turn a 2d picture into 3d? I saw a "picture in a crystal block" kiosk at the mall today and was blown away by the quality. When the guy mentioned they use a photo to make it a 3d image, I immediately thought of this thread where yall are saying that's not possible (or not accurately).

I wonder if very expensive software can take a photo and make pretty accurate guesses, or if it's bullshit. I figure this is semi-related. Thanks people
>>
>>512225
No. As someone who works with a lot of photogrammetry, there's no super expensive software that can do that for you from a single photo, there just isn't enough light information in a regular RGB image. You either need lots of images from different angles of the subject so that the computer can more easily determine the forms, or you need a sensor that can take photos with depth information, which exist, the Xbox Kinect is a cheap version of such cameras.
>>
>>512225
Theres a free one.

>>
>>512254
Thank you so much for your response. I'm going to contact the company and ask them if they can use multiple pictures (front, profiles, back?) to make the most accurate image possible, or if they only use one. Have a great day :)
