>>508535You know what would improve these Poser/DS threads immensely? If someone were to post links to guides that would help people learn the software, or learn content creation for the software. Most people that gripe about Poser and DAZ Studio do it because people just pose naked chicks and render them, without knowing anything about the software really. A collection of good guides/tutorials would go a long way toward fixing that problem, at least here. For instance, links to information about how to make your own morph targets / full-body morphs, focusing on the Poser/DS side of it. How do you export the geometry, and reimport it to use as a morph? Stuff like that would be well-recieved, I think. Also some tutorials for animating in either of the programs would be great, or anything more in-depth, so that people can be more than just consumers of the content with them.Basically, make this thread like the General threads on other boards. Call it Poser/DAZ Studio General or something. A /pdsg/ would also serve as a decent containment thread. People that get all booty bothered about others using the programs wouldn't have to see it anymore, and people that want to discuss it would have a place to do so.

any Daz3d oldfag in here?is it just my PC or did anything after version 3.x took a big SHIT in terms of 3d-transformation performance?when I play the same (preview) animation in both versions, the preview runs at like 30 fps in version 3.1 and at like 10fps in 4.x.orbiting around in complex scenes may be faster in 4.x but anything that involves manipulating like moving bones, animations etc is WAY WAY SLOWER than in the old version.I can't find anything about this anywhere, so I hope there are some people here who experience something similar.

>>509803Here's one of my favorite Poser images from way back. It's "Defeated" by ToxicAngel, from 2002. Obviously CG, and highly postworked, but it's almost 15 years old. It's very good for the time, in my opinion.
>>509804>that fucking stoneoh my fucking god, ruined the whole picture
>>50984215 years ago faggot, the thing was probably generated in BryceWhat did your CG art look like then or were you still shitting your diapers
>>509842>>509861It actually WAS generated in Bryce. I think the tree behind her was made in Carrara with the vegetation presets, which is why the limbs are obviously cylinders joined at stiff angles.ToxicAngel made this with DAZ assets, in a combination of Poser 4 and Photoshop (6 or 7, ffs), 15 years ago. Considering how far we've come since then, it's stunning that this was produced with that essentially stone age tech.
Daz seems to be going to some sort of encrypted cloud storage for its content in an attempt to quash piracy but apparently this means their products will no longer work with Poser or Carrera so it's already pissed off a lot of their customers.
>>509748McCasual's scripts are amazing. If Daz had half a brain they'd hire him to improve their software since he seems to know more than the actual staff programmers.
>>509667If I remember correctly pre version 4 the viewport did not display subdivided meshes. 4 and up display subdivisions in the preview, default 1 subD level. That increases the polygon load on the rendering engine. You can have it not display the subdivisions in the preview but that's not the default.

This whole debacle with the cloud is just going to cause a resurgence of interest in Poser. Imo, that's a win-win. DAZ fucks itself with its hubris, and revitalizes the market for the chief competitor to Studio.
>>510217True, DAZ3d has a knack at shooting itself in the foot trying to control every aspect of distribution, with Poser being a mess I doubt they'll be a surge either way. Both companies running off their customer base.
>>510229Fair enough. Both companies are fairly inept.
Just thought I'd add this: Smith Micro has openly wondered about the 'poison pill' option, releasing Poser as open source.
>>510215>you know exactly nothing about the subject you're talking aboutI think anon was referring to future versions of DAZstudio and the inevitable planned obsolescence cycle
Daz's new and mandatory encryption system now breaks all scripts that have to have access to the asset's data files to work. So all the scripts Daz sells will no longer work with 4.9Granted Daz doesn't sell many scripts but it's going to piss off all the people using MCasual's scripts.
>>510287AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAI was going to add another shitpost about version 5 requiring scripts to be digitally signed using certs only DAZ could sell but as usual truth is shittier than fiction

Only products sold through Daz will have the DRM on them. Rederosity and Hivewire and all other 3rd party products will not have DRM encryption on them.Daz makes it's money primarily by selling content (which is why Daz Studio is free). They've not made it so that the content they sell is less useful than the content their competitors sell. On top of it, the pirates will probably have their DRM cracked before 4.9 even officially releases so it's not really going to do anything to stop piracy.Daz has just shot themselves in the foot and they're too stupid to even realize it. For every dollar they're stopping in piracy it's going to end up costing them ten in sales.Idiots.
>>510427>Daz has just shot themselves in the foot and they're too stupid to even realize it.DAZ3d, the Gestapo of 3d accessible content and their shitty Studio app no one wants to use. Both Poser, and DAZ3d both became better because users cracked them to be useful, and years later they still haven't accepted that other people - their user base made their software useful.Imagine if a drug dealer called the cops on you every time you bought product from him. Eventually you'd realize it is better to go else where, or find ways to circumvent around the dealer whose intention is to fuck you over every time.

>>510667Daz damage control?
>>510669Good luck controlling the damage. Their competition has already started hitting the DRM angle hard.Got an email from Rederocity today that emphasized the lack of DRM.>>Don't let DRM Products limit your creativity...>Shop Renderosity Today!> >At Renderosity you can always find great deals >on high-quality DRM Free content.Daz has given Renderosity and HiveWire a huge birthday present. Even if there were no problems at all with the DRM content from Daz the customer base perceives a problem with it and this is going to have a serious negative effect on their vendor sales which is the only thing they really make money on.They've seriously underestimated the negative reaction putting DRM on their Connect feature would have on their customers. They're used to pissing people off by releasing new figures when what their customers want are new features. They know their customers will grumble about having to go buy the same set of morphs for a new figure they've already purchased for 3 other figures, but they'll still rebuy the same stuff over and over again. This time it looks like the customers are putting their feet down and saying "No, I will not rebuy all my stuff again for the newest Genesis figure I never asked for if it's going to be restricted with DRM".It'll be interesting to see if Daz will double down on the DRM or admit they made a mistake.

>>510714The more I learn about Daz the more I'm baffled.
>>510714It's no wonder they have no physics and dynamics in their software when their programmers can't even handle HTML. I don't think there's a single competent employee at the company.
>>510663>How's she messed up?If you really do not know you are part of the problem. Learn proper rigging sizes. Also if you need help knowing what people want take time to examine v7 to get a hint. Poser's 3d sculptor Teyon is an amateur who clearly doesn't know the intricate specifics the female form. He is most likely a closeted homosexual.
>>510725If people using Poser/DAZ whatever can tell what's wrong with the models and call their authors closet homosexuals etc for doing it wrong, why don't they build their own mannequins?
>>510690$350 for a fucking MORPH AND TEXTURE?!?Fuck you DAZ. Fuck you.
>>510726The 'closet homosexual' thing is a meme that started back when another guy was sculpting Victoria for DAZ. He always gave her a mannish face, and now that he's at Hivewire, the trend has continued with Dawn. The poster you replied to either doesn't know that or was just spinning it a little differently and claiming this other artist is a fag because 'lol straight guys instinctively know everything about the female form'.That said, the Pauline model is fucked in a few different ways. Her jaw is far too wide, her face is too small for her head, her elbows are rigged very, very badly (yes her elbows - how they fucked up an elbow I will never know), and the bottoms of her feet look like someone has taken a wood planer to her heels. All that aid, vendors can mod her however they like and sell the modified figure, cr2, textures, whatever. That doesn't make up for releasing a busted-ass hoopty of a model in the first place.Oh, the old artist that made Vicky 1-3 look like a dude, and that gave Dawn the jaw like a fucking humvee is Christopher Creek. Look at his artwork and judge for yourself (but really, after seeing his poser figure work, I certainly have my own ideas about him).
Oh, one other thing about this genius move that DAZ made with the encryption. It breaks compatibility with Carrara, which DAZ also sells. They market it as a full 3d suite, and all of its updates for like 4 years have been done to make it compatible with the Genesis figures in the first place.I'm sure that there will be a paid addon for it that corrects the issue, though. Fucking cunts.
>>510726>>510742>That said, the Pauline model is fucked in a few different ways.>deformed feet, yes>bulging shoulders>no clavicle>no plantaris muscle shaping to the back of the knees>no popliteal - hollow behind the knees >no front knee shaping>no leg hamstring sculpting>no inner thigh sartorius shape>no rib cage>no rectus abdominis>no abdominal shape what so ever>no shoulder blades>no calvesGranted as >>510742 mentioned this can all be made, but with so much missing, and so much misshapen to start off getting to a point of reshaping is the same as demolishing a house so as to rebuild it from scratch. Might as well start over with better rigging, and basic form.On top of this, v7 already has everything listed above, and more. Poser's sculptor is either incompetent, or lazy. The argument could be made that they left it all plain to allow users to add their own, but again why bother if the wire-frame isn't made to accommodate such modifications in the first place? So all I can conclude is they don't care, or lack the skill set to replicate accurate female definition. Or, they're closeted gays.Anybody serious about zbrush knows studying anatomy is vital in sculpting, and still Poser's group hasn't caught up with what is now the basics.
>>510765sick fucking pedos
>>510742>when another guy was sculpting Victoria for DAZ. He always gave her a mannish faceUntil Victoria 4 who was most likely sculpted by mallenlane (at least, from the neck up) because Mike was already pro in Modo when V4 was developed. My guess is that Chris made the old college try, shat the bed as usual and Dan begged Mike to take over anonymously.Dan will still tell you with a straight face that Chris made V4 but Dawn puts the lie to that right off. > Jaw too wideEasily fixed> face too smallMorph that controls eye and mouth repositioning, or just morph the rest of the head down and rescale the head upThe overall proportions of the face are passable enough and the mesh is a good foundation for creating new characters. We've had to suffer through far worse with other head meshes.Chris is a trained medical illustrator which means he has no business making errors in a sculpt. I would almost guarantee that despite his training, he spends zero (0) time doing any kind of life modeling to sharpen his skills as an artist. The guy who modeled Joel and Ellie was clear that you have to keep up with your analog skills if you expect to be top notch as a digital sculptor.Elbows can be given magnet zones and flat feet can be morphed.> still, this shouldn't have passed betaNo arguments from me. But again, compared with past mishaps from both DAZ and SM when it comes to releasing figures before they're ready, this is nitpicking unless you've got more serious problems to report. The next time SM needs a new figure they would be better off having known 3D modelers bid on it and stop with the amateur hour bullshit. Sixus was responsible for Don & Judy as I recall and christ they're awful to look at.
>>510759>v7 already has everything listed above, and more.So does G2F, except I can actually use it outside DAZ Shitshow.
polite reminder that Renderosity is only 1 year older than Daz (counting when it was still Zygote)Daz's chief revenue source is the production and sales of digital assetsHas its own full time art staffTotal number of Daz products released between 2000-present: 24700Total number of Renderosity products released between 1999-present: 113000And Renderosity routinely discontinues poor selling items because they can literally afford to do so, even though they still have all the data on their cloud storage. At any given time they probably have 2x as many 'live' items for sale than Daz does.

>>511101If it's pirated it will have the DRM encryption busted. 4.9 runs unencrypted content just fine.Daz maintains that their encryption cannot be cracked, period. It was a complete pain in the dick. All of that just because I wanted to do a fresh install of DAZ Studio and my content.I never reinstalled on my actual machine after that, because fuck that kind of horseshit. I also never tried to just remove the process from startup with msconfig, but that would likely work instead of rebooting then disabling it by hand.I still use DAZ Studio from time to time, but I keep that shit quarantined on a virtual machine now.>>512350Is PostGres the new (4.7+) or old (4.6 and previous) database? >>512408>probably the most unprofessional clusterfuck of a corporation everwhoa whoa whoahttp://poser-world.pissedconsumer.comThis is a whole new level of FUCK YOU, BALTIMORE
>>512419>I remember they switched database setups at one point, and fucked over smart content for months. That was when they switched to PG from an older, shittier db platform whose maintainers abandoned it.PG is designed to be enterprise-level relational database management for server applications, and it buries itself balls-deep in your OS to remain robust. In fact, it creates a silent user named postgresql in Windows whose password doesn't expire which runs it in the background at startup. If you're asking why they didn't just use MySQL instead, it's simple: MySQL requires commercial licensing for embedding in commercial, non-FOSS software, but PostGres' license is militantly free no matter what you do with it. There are shovelware poker games which use it as their db engine for this reason. There's no crime in avoiding reinventing the wheel but PG is a more resource intensive piece of software than most of the desktop applications that choose to rely on it. I will say that if you had a runtime that was half a terabyte and you needed to quickly find all the sci-fi themed assets, a robust database engine is a smart idea. But realistically if you're at that point, you might be better off having an indexing system not beholden to a specific posing/rendering application.
>>512436PostgreSQL doesn't work depending on what firewall or antivirus software you have. If you use ZoneAlarm you're screwed. DS 4.9 won't work unless you have of PostgreSQL connection so depending on your antivirus/firewall you can't run 4.9 at all because it won't work with the Valentina db.
>>512456That's because it wasn't meant to coexist with firewall/AV software you download from Cnet. It's intended to be installed on a hardened Windows/Linux server where the built in firewalls/AV are robust enough to do the job, or you're a sysadmin who knows what they're doing in configuring the platform.MySQL/MariaDB are better choices for a desktop footprint.
FUCKING HELL.It is NOT possible to import a model that was rigged in some other software into DAZ?What kind of laughable shit software is this? They really try to force people to use THEIR shitty rigging mechanics if they want to create daz/poser content?lol, fuck you.
>>512561You should have finished watching the tutorial. You would have found out that 99% of the work of rigging is done by the DAZ Studio transfer tool, which copies all relevant bone and morph data. The software is still trash though.
>>512562>implying I want Genesis human rigging in a car or a floating dick
Rigging stuff in Daz is pretty freaking easy.
>>511998> this time there really ARE no new freebiesIT'S FUCK-YOU FRIDAY
>>512787No, anon, today's freebie is a DRM-only canoe that doesn't appear on the freebies page.FUCK-YOU FRIDAY at DAZ in full effect
Is there any sort of transfer utility I can use to move morphs or at least skins to Gen3 from Gen2?
>>513017The same exact procedure that moved V4 --> Genesis and Genesis --> G2 moves G2 --> G3read the manual and look for clone
>>512810So now that Daz has released a DRM-only problem how long will it take before it's been cracked by the pirates (which Daz maintains is impossible to crack). The previous DRM products were available as non-DRM versions too and those are the ones Daz says were pirated.
>>513081>The previous DRM products were available as non-DRM versions too and those are the ones Daz says were pirated. They lied. The encryption was cracked within an hour.
It seems documentation is really all over the place and Daz Studio forums are a clusterfuck of broken links. Can you suggest any video tutorials or any sort of series for clothing and content creation?
>>512718>Rigging stuff in Daz is pretty freaking easy.>hurr, just use the rig transfer toolYou can't do that if you want to give the resulting rigged figurest away for free or money since they'll include copyrighted Genesis rigs. Also, compared to rigging in Blender (or other software, I'm sure) the rigging process is fucking horrible inside DAZ Studio.
>>513112This lead me to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXs8VNUcOk8 which lead me to a plugin from the comments, which allowed me to setup a fairly dirty rig.
>>513083>The encryption was cracked within an hour. Then where's the canoe?
>>513147free apparently http://www.daz3d.com/canoes
>>513190I meant, why hadn't it been cracked yet –– which by now it has, and is available with a Poser companion file that wasn't in the original freebie.MMMMmmmmm, can't wait for another freebie on Friday that's DRMed, Daz Connect only, and cracked within the week with a Poser CF.
>>513275It hasn't been cracked yet. Daz's DRM is uncrackable. They said so themselves.
Is there a quick way to make walls and other props invisible, for easier navigation? Or do I really need to go through the prop's tree and hide by part?Basically I'd like to hide only some walls and roof temporarily to setup my figures and other props.

>>513360Well it must be true then
Who's ready for Genesis 4 this summer??
>>513504ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME????WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY SHITTING OUT THOSE MODELS?Fuck man. At this point it doesn't make sense anymore to create shit for them.
>>508535Amazingly, this week there are new freebies both on the actual freebies page, and in the shop when you sort by lowest to highest price.http://www.daz3d.com/shop/#order=price^-1&filtered=1Day at the Beach Bundle, Inside the Asylum Bundle, and Sci-Fi Warrior Bundle are decent and each contain Poser compatible content. EmotiGuy for making irritating 'can't find a heck to give' memeshit, and Dystopia Blocks scenery. not too shitty
>>513506I kid, wouldn't be surprised though.
>>513504Gen4, after only one year since Gen3? You've got to be kidding. They'll release another six Gen3 character sets before that happens. And if Gen4 is again incompatible with Poser, vendors will remain shortchanged unable to profit from both to get ahead.
>>513537>vendors will remain shortchanged unable to profit from both to get aheadLiterally all they have to do is sculpt on V4 and then migrate using DS V4-->Genesis-->Genesis2-->Genesis3I've done it and the base mesh for G3 is in no way necessary to sculpt heads or bodies
>>513540I was surprised with how well it worked for all my lewd V4 stuff. That said, can anyone suggest a guide to importing "weapons"
>>513540>Using DS V4 rigging, and body parts. No thank you.
>>513544the rigging doesn't come along for the ride, just the morphs, dumbass
>>513546You have missed the point. Having V4 morphs on V7 is useless to Poser users.Having V4, or V6 with morphs from V7, still missing the point.Having a V7 in Poser that works just as V7 should work in DAZ, that is the missing link for Poser vendor sell.
Question for the thread:I want to use Genesis 2 male and female in Poser. I have Poser Pro 2014 (not game dev, because fuck that deactivation shit). How much worse are Genesis 2 characters if brought into poser through DAZ Studio's CR2 export than through DSON? What are the exact drawback of using the CR2 exporter instead of DSON?before anyone asks, yes, I have reasons for wanting to use the CR2 exporter.
So boys, I just added up my transactions with Daz. I've spent about $500 USD since getting into it last year. There's no turning back is there?
>>513568$500 is nothing. I personally know a lady that has spent over $20k. Of course, she's been into it since Mike2/Vicky 2.You still have an exit ramp.

I honestly wish I could get a copy of all the generation 3 base figures, and any stuff released for them by DAZ. I wold just fucking drop out of the content treadmill, weight paint those figures, and be happy with my collection.
>>513653>anons in here instantly recognize some years old clothing itemIt's awesome AND kind of scary at the same time.
>>513553If you have multiple figures brought in through DSON expect Poser to slow to a crawl. If they've been converted to native CR2 figures, this isn't the case.
>>513658why not 4, if you don't mind me asking?
>>513796Generation 4 is nice and all, but I prefer working with 3 because when you convert their rigging to weights, they move and deform just as well as 4 does with weights, and they're much less resource intensive. I like having bigger scenes.
>>513658yeah, I've been having a hell of a time finding any of those figures on torrent sites.I'm quite amazed at just how much content there is out there for them.
4k support when?
>>513771I need a life.
>>513848>much less resource intensiveYour memory isn't measured in gigabytes, is it. It's not the poly count that makes V4/M4 more resource intensive, it's the sheer amount of JCMs embedded in it because Poser didn't have weight mapping when V4 released. >>513859>I'm quite amazed at just how much content there is out there for them.No one's heartless enough to delete ancient websites. Generation 3 was out for something like 3-4 years. Generation 4's about to turn 10 at the end of 2016 and people are STILL making content for it. > I've been having a hell of a time finding any of those figures on torrent sites.Pic related; welcome to newfag nation where few people care about anything more than one generation behind current. M3, V3, SP, David, MilKids, SheFreakV3, etc. are all still Platinum Club items, and the basic figures are only $9.95 each before PC discounts apply. Waste less time and buy them.
>>513882>Your memory isn't measured in gigabytes, is it. It's not the poly count that makes V4/M4 more resource intensive, it's the sheer amount of JCMs embedded in it because Poser didn't have weight mapping when V4 released.I knew everything you just said. The issue is that Generation 4 has more maps per figure. When you need a different set of maps per character, the additional maps start both eating up ram. That's not an issue if you only have a dozen or so figures in your scene, but when you start to do crowd scenes, like a couple of superheroes battling it out with people around, like they are in the middle of a mall, shit can get dicey.Remember, not everyone doe still images with Poser. For those of us that do animations too, the lighter the figures are, the better the entire experience is.
>>513885>The issue is that Generation 4 has more maps per figure3: Face, head/body and limbs. Background characters don't need bump/specular/displacement maps and you can reuse one set with tints added in the shader nodes of whatever rendering system you're using. Shrek reused the same basic male and female for most of the human characters for this reason, only morphing them to look different.Besides, most of your BG characters can be these guys:http://www.daz3d.com/lorenzo-and-loretta-bundle

>>513927yeah but guy is awful. Looks like a retexture of the base g3m rather than stylized sculpt like Girl7
>>513928Girl 7 also looks like shit.
>>513928Before DAZ acquired Girl from Kim Goossens, Neftis modeled her own character NeftOoN Gal, and the male version was Neftoon Pal (don't ask about the capitalization). Pal was what Guy7 should have been: a deliberate proportional caricature instead of an uncanny smoothing of some wop. I would've hired either Goossens or Neftis to model Guy7.>>513929>Girl 7 also looks like shit. The marching orders at Daz are "fuck stylized characters" and just like how Aiko stopped being anime, Girl went from being a toon to being a pseudo-Bratz morph. Putting realistic hair on her and making her proportions human was the nail in the coffin.

I have a question: Why don't you guys use a proper modelling suite like Maya or
Blender
?Daz and Poser looks and seems like garbage, couldn't you use the content made for the two on other software?
>>516637Yeah, just exporting the rig/morphs isn't very easy. There's some plugins around but nothing 100%.And yes, the software is HOT garbage.
>>516637Because we're not interested in building a model from the ground up.Usually there are other projects we're interested in, but if your talents can create a better model from which you'd be willing to sell that works with Poser, and DAZ we'd buy it in masses if it was worthy. But since you haven't shown, I suppose your ability remains a mystery. We do not want to spend weeks tinkering with content just to get to a point of using it so since Poser, and DAZ offer pre-made models, and content which just so happens to suit our needs.I wish you people of whom seem so busy insulting, and complaining could understand that, and actually show us your expert talent instead of showing nothing, and still not grasping why we use Poser, and DAZ.It would save time for both you, and us. Might as well ask people why they bother buying cars, instead of building their own.
>>516648>Might as well ask people why they bother buying cars, instead of building their own. This is terrible analogy and you should feel bad.

The models skin tone is whatever the seller used to make it. You can actually open up the skin maps in a paint or image editor like Photoshop or SAI and play around with the hue/saturation if u want to change it around to suit your needs.Be sure to save it as a new separate file and leave the original as is and then you can just load the model you want to use and swap the old Diffuse Channel map for the one you edited in the surfaces tab under "skin".

>>517964Or you could use Luxrender which is already capable of farming renders and costs nothing. If you used Reality you'd know this.
>>518018Thanks, looking into it now.
>>518020Reality is like thirty bucks, double if you want it for both Poser and DS. They've integrated Luxrender into it in the current version but I believe it can still talk to renderfarms you set up.About the only downside to it is that Reality in GPU mode does not work on Macs due to an undocumented problem with the firmware in the NVIDIA cards that ship with Macs (someone was able to get around this on a Mac Pro by using a PC NVIDIA card instead). It'll let you run it in GPU mode but it's not supported. That being said CPU renders are not any worse and for medium size projects you might not even notice the difference. I've run Luxrender against virtual machines with virtualized GPU hardware and it's still possible. Reality is neat because one thing it features is replacement settings for skin, cloth, metal, etc. It's not as cool as Octane where you could use alternate Poser mats directly made for Octane but still.
>>518024I'll still need to change materials/lights in my current scenes (iray)? In order for it to render properly I mean.I tried luxus just now and it didnt seem to render any of the normal/bump info.

I haven't tried it again since then because I realized conforming clothing with the same morphs assume it's either FBM on or FBM off.Beyond that I really like Reality and the developer is dedicated to the product. He's also the dev who patched Blender to retain vertex order in .OBJ export, so he's got angel wings in my book already.
Anyone know some good wet hair for Genesis/victoria 6/7?
Besides the official suggestions for use like concept art/etc.Is Daz/Poser really just a platform for making lewd comics and futa animations? Why else does this exist?
>>518541> porn, porn, pornFor most porn paysites, time is money, and building/texturing/rigging original figures/clothing/props/environments has zero return on investment. Don't ask why 3D fetish porn uses consumer models, ask why 3D porn in general doesn't use anything else. >Why else [do prosumer character render/animation packages] exist?Poser's been used to storyboard movies, provide crime scene reconstructions, give comic book artists pose references, make the animations you see in self-checkout POS systems at department/grocery stores, produce stills for PSP tubes, and any number of artistic renders unrelated to porn. DS has been used for production concept art for Marvel's superhero movies. The most visible large scale, non porn application of Poser right now is RWBY, which is entirely animated and cel-rendered using it. After its creator's death the development team didn't ditch it for another platform (even DS). Also, don't write off concept art as a secondary medium just because you never see it. Bill Sienkiewicz earns more in 2 months storyboarding "Guy-In-Tights-Man: The Motion Picture" than he'd make drawing a year's worth (264 pages) of Ultimate Guy-In-Tights-Man. But in an age of endless focus groups, reshoots and rewrites, the necessity to quickly modify or replace an entire scene's storyboards digitally is going to change the tools storyboarders use (for feature-length live action, that is).
>>518541I use Daz mostly just for creating references for digital and traditional illustrations. I don't really care much for rendering itself as an art form and while I love 3D modelling I'm too fucking lazy to texture anything properly (although I'm starting to like texturing more now that I've got 3DCoat). For references I don't need to use textures at all (and actually find it much more useful to remove them so I can better see how the light plays on a scene). The whole reason I got into 3D in the first place was because I was pissed off that my wooden reference doll wouldn't pose like an actual human being would. There's a tonne of artists who use Daz/Poser for that reason only.
>>518571>my wooden reference doll wouldn't pose like an actual human being wouldThey're excellent at holding poses no one would ever need to draw. Get any more complex and you're going to need rubber bands and tape.
Anyone know any decent tutorials for setting up good lighting for Iray?
Cailin (G3f), Iray and don't remember the setting. most likely a mid level setting thou.
>>518753>Anyone know any decent tutorials for setting up good lighting for Iray?I think the best tutorial is getting a 980 Ti.Dumb tutorials are purely theoretical. Just get a card that allows you to rotate the dome and try every angle in 2 minutes.
I wish /3/ was more popular.Poser is an amateur program so it would normally gets of posts from 4chan if this forum didn't suck so bad.
Any cool kids from http://3dcg.org/ that can send an invite? The registration shit is always closed and they have stuff that kickass torrent doesn't.
I like Genesis 2 Female a lot. The morph dials are so comfy. So far, I don't see the advantage in G3F, unless someone knows?
>>516712I've liked Aeon's poses since Poser 6.But yea, never quite understood his taste in women. At least he widened their thighs in Daz Studio. His shit used to be anorexic.
>>518573The art store in my town had a life sized wooden artist's model with full articulated hands and locking joints. It would have been cheaper to buy a Real Doll though.
>>519330Thanks man. It was one of the first i did
>>519322Poser had its time, but is already the past. Even their latest release (in 2014!) was well beyound their time (muh face editor works only with 3 inbuilt model). To be fair, as the name suggests, it was originally just a posing/animating program, and not a fucking simcreator for amateur porn artists.
>>510777>muh rights of non-existing cg characters
>>519403>muh face editorFace Room is a terrible concept for this program and it requires paying a third party company to map heads to work with it. Face Room is to Poser what OptiTex dynamic clothing is to DS.Guess which of the two is more useful.
>>519413>give a tab for an editor which won't even work except you install bonus suppliesSometimes I wonder how smithmicro hadn't gone bankrupt yet
>>510765>literally the first result on katAre you even trying?
>>519403>Poser had its time, but is already the pastBut Daz Studio is booming. Or are Poser and Daz made by different companies?
>>519420Not him but it's almost like you're wrong or somethingSeriously think this over for a momentAn application which costs money is still competing with an application that doesn't and yet you can't bring yourself to accept the logical conclusion here>>519425>Or are Poser and Daz made by different companiesGo back to a thread where you can pretend to know what you're talking about
Is there no super sekrit resource site for Daz where people offer videogame characters (preferably free).I haven't come across one.Or is there any (easy) way to port all those SFM models?
>>520627> hay guise where can I get ripped vidyashit for SFM pornsThis is a Poser/DS thread you faggot
