Okay, lets make an android game!
anyone interested? bump.
>>
why mobile game friend
>>
>>506879
Why not?
>>
>>506877
Even though I'd love to participate, I dont understand if that's feasible? I remember we tried to make a game based on mad max fury road, but I dont think that went well.
>>
>>506881
That's cuz the guy heading it was a weirdo.
>>
>>506877
I've seen threads like this before. A word of advice : find people that want to participate and collab outside of 4chan. Learn eachothers names. Talk to one another. The groups that don't do this seem to always fail
>>
we need a programmer
>>
>>506877
>Okay, lets make an android game!
>/3/
I think you want /agdg/ in /vg/
>>
>/3/ wants to make yet another game despite the numerous times it's tried and failed miserably before
>>
>>506941
android game is not a pc game
>>
>>506905
I can do some basic programming in C# Unity anyone?
>>
>>506957
same here
>>
>>506949
Yeah, it's harder to make with all the necessary optimization.
>>
>>506877
Whats the game is about ?

>>507048
>>506957
Can you do a game from scratch or by using some assets ?
>>
>>507049
alot less content
even levels are recycled or simply based on scores
>>
>>506877
hoihoi i will participate... make an irc channel?
>>
>>506877
Alright you fucking faggots. You want to make a video game? Lets get real. The first thing we are going to need is people experienced in engine coding. Such as people who are well developed into unity or unreal engine. All team members will need to know how to work in said engines so that we are all able to bring our assets together to craft said game.

Secondly, we are going to need funding. How long do we want the game to be? Whats the gameplay gonna be like? What will set us apart from the already stagnant and stale video game industry? Drop the fucking android game because we will just get buried by uninspired shovelware. Lets say we go to kickstarter. What will make people want to fund it? All this needs to be considered because people are trusting us with their money. If we fuck up we will never make another video game again.

Thirdly, we will need coders, and this may be the toughest part. We are artists, and they are computer programmers. Two very polar opposites trying to work together to accomplish something. I've heard many stories of programmers and artists having fallout's because of two very different ideas. If we manage to make it this far and need coders, we will have to be on the same page as them or else this is doomed to fail.

Fourthly we will need a story. We can't just say "OH LETS MAKE A GAME GUYS!!1" and expect shit to just fall in our lap. Whats the story of the game? whats the type of game? Whats the gameplay like? I have a story for a video game that I have wanted to make for a while but don't have the funding or the proper team. So if you guys are 100% serious you still want to do this even after all I've said, I'll share it with you. We would need to come to an agreement on the story and game to become good.

Lastly, we will need communication. Let's say we've gotten everything together. We have funding, we have a team, and we have a good idea for what we want for a game. (Cont in next comment)

None of that shit matters if we don't have any communication with each other. We need to set agendas for what certain team members are going to do, and how and when they are going to get it done. We will need regularly scheduled meetings with each other to make sure the game is coming along nicely. We will need a pr rep to post blogs and videos with the outside world so that they know that the game is still coming. All this shit to make a single game.

So /3/, let me ask. Do you still want to make a game? Or do you want to continue to piss in your bottle jugs and tell others their models are shit while you make 3d furry porn?
>>
>>507052
Because lowering your standards ALWAYS compensates for a lack of comitment.

Ive some experience but only on small mobile games. 2d,3d, animation, programming. I can make a game from scratch. On unity I would need to remember some stuff though, I mostly work on 2d games with cocos2d.
>>
>>506877
i think if we give this a fair shot we could at least make something respectable that could be used to showcase as a demo in our portfolios, maybe even turn a profit around but honestly, i would be willing to do this more for the fun of it.

i wouldnt boast about my C# unity skills but i think i have a good handle on the environment and programming side of things. i would be more than willing to show past example projects i have made before starting this.
>>
i'd also like to chip in
CS student, rough skill in blender, used unity before, but never made it past prototyping
>>
if you want to go full android why dont you use libgdx?
>>
so how exactly are we going to communicate and work together ? it wont last long on this site. we need to decide on a platform to communicate on and figure out what skill set each anon has.
>>
>>508685
it won't work.
anyone i worked with through 4chan is volatile and undecisive as fuck
im giving you a headsup on it, work with normal people that have work ethic and don't quit something because they woke up feeling bad
>>
>>508686
well, we just need to find the person with the most experience and make him project manager. he then gives tasks to everyone involved. of course proper planning is needed beforehand.
if we find a semi-qualified person for this, it could work
>>
Its dead already.
>>
>>506877
A game needs a lot of organization. We need a menager that will organize us , not via this board but with google hangout or such . we will need 3d modelers, animators , coders. If u think u are the chosen one , step up and organize us.

This would be easy via GitHub, but people would actually have to actually do the work assigned to them.
>>
why don't you use shotgun? it's a great pipeline management tool when used properly. We use it for short film making but i don't see why it couldn't work for a game
>>
>>506877
I want an action platformer or a tactical rpg.
>>
>>507087
It does if you're a mobile developer
>>
I don't know anything about Android but have a question for this thread:
I want to make a basic 3D game where I play as a 3D ball, and move him with the arrow keys and advance a level every time I touch a green box. What do I do first? I assume render the ball in blender, but do I need Unity, and if I do, Can I get that in Debian Linux?
>>
>>509488
>render the ball in blender
>render
>game
>linux

Anon stop
>>
>>509491
Stop what? What am I fuckin' up on?
>>
>>509488
Unity has 3d sphere objects already. Just open unity. If you must, you need to export your model to fbx then import it in unity. No idea if it works on linux.
>>
I can't code but I can help in the direction of story, characters etc (Depending on how fleshed out you want this game to be)

maybe a kik group for communication?
>>

>>509488
You don't have to render anything in a game (besides cut-scenes). You just load the objects into Unity, which is a executable so I don't know about that Linux part.

Also >>509614 's right. Everything you wanted is already in the engine.
>>
I always wonder how money affects these projects. This wont be a free game right?
>>
>>509944
i don't see how money could be fairly distributed. people do different kinds and accounts of work, and then there are different tax laws in every country
i think it would be safer if we start with a non-profit mindset, so no one will feel disappointed or entitled
>>
>>509946
*amounts
>>
Honestly, I always thought /3/ should just make some 3d models to use as mods for an already created game. No programming, no leaders, no body depends on anyone else.

We need to find a free game that supports mods and then we can get to work.
>>
>>511794
we started with a big hype the previous time. nobody contributed to anything. the max amount of people who will actually do stuff doesn't exceed 3 or 4.
>>
>>509946
who ever pays for licencing I guess.
>>
fuck mobile, pc master race
>>
>>511796
or if someone committed to building a game by himself and just accepted whomever came and went at the time for help
>>
OK guys, Unity Engine programmer here.

I made a channel on freenode:

##3makesagame

come join me, we will gather in there for a couple days.
>>
>>512646
this is the same unity engine programmer,
just to let you guys know, I have published a game on Google Play and I specialize in making games for Google Cardboard. The game i am currently working on is a multiplayer FPS for google cardboard

Programmer here, Ive been fucking around in the unity engine for the past 5-6 years. Currently making a lighter version of Elite for android. At the moment I'm just trying to see how much I can get away with in terms of scale and detail. Id love to help out however, what kind of game do you lads want to make?
>>
>>506877
I am!
I am a character design, modeler and scripter.
I´ll manage the rights to the game and keep the profits too - you know, reasons.
>>
don't we have a discord server?
>>
>>506877
Wait, what happened to that Mars game?
