This is the teaser image for the new berserk anime.
What would you rate the quality of 3D here?
Theres no 3D in that picture
Everything in that picture is 3D.
Nope, not even the slightest, its just good art done by a good artist but its clearly 2D
2D or 3D it looks like dogshit. It's like some fuccbois 2edgy garbage from deviantart
only the color scheme is, but if you view it in white and blach like in the manga then it would be great
looks incredibly stupid. its got ridiculously tiled textures everywhere, the poorly tesselated ground looks awful, lights and shadows make zero sense, the styles don't even match with the objects around, there are some weird blue artifacts around the outlines, the hair just looks terrible.
overall it looks horrible
I love it when people are so confident but yet so wrong.
bg is cg, not so sure about guts though, mostly looking at the fingernails. The existing berserk rename has pretty awful CG, so unless they got gud, I'd wager its 2d.
Background is definitely CG with some quick overpainting on parts. Most noticeable by the debris on the ground the uniformity of the bricks and the back-lighting.
enlarge the picture dude its all 3d
What about this?
Why would they do this.
it looks passable as a still, a lot worse in motion
easier to animate, you can use pre-made shit, you can do 60 fps animation if you wanted
seriously, this is the the future of 2d animation, it will be done properly and it will look 2d, it just needs time
It's great, thought it looked quite excellent in the remakes of the 'golden era' arc too, in still frames that is. The animation of the 3D models don't look very pleasing.
Yeah, I agree, if you're gonna use 3d, you might as well go with a super fluid animation and 60fps. First time I saw fluid animation was in Fire and Ice and I loved it, it was rotoscoped, but it is drawn by hand and in my opinion it looks gorgeous.
Even the rocks are sculpted you butthole.
now say you were wrong
Fucking garbage, the CG is Egg of the King was so bad it took away from the whole experience. Just why, why are Japs are so fucking bad at 3D jesus christ, and why do they insist on going digital when it's limiting their technical artistry?
good points. I need to look more into this process.
Because it's a hard task to animate giant full hd shit nowadays. You can't just draw like the past on a list of a4 paper and scan it and boom, you now have to draw digitally in 1080p or even bigger resolutions, so you're essentially drawing on a bigger canvas, because it needs more detail to look good, not simple/stretched. And it's super expensive and time-consuming to do 24fps animation by hand and pretty hard, you need very very good animators, not just artists. With keyframing and mocap even beginners can do amazing shit.
For humanoid proportion like all jap animation is, realistic looks better than hand-animated, so naturally mocap/rotoscopy with high frame rates - 30/48/60 should be preferable.
What they tried to do, I assume is to make it feel hand-drawn right from fucking 3d application, which looks bad.
Also digital!=3d. The 2d industry has been digital for years now.
