turning on ambient occlusion in 3d viewport does nothing (pic not mine)

tried that, nothing
works for me, im in cycles tho
3d viewport ambient occlusion is SSAO and independent of renderer. It works no matter if you're in Cycles or Internal and if shading is set to GLSL or multitexture.
what kind of operating system are you using and what kind of hardware do you have?
