You can make money with any of those options, it just depends on what kind of quality and pride you want to strive for. Do you want your work to be top notch and wow people? Then you learn Maya, how to properly animate, render and sculpt some great tits and ass.
Do you just want to fuck around and earn money off the backs of other people? Do the SFM route. People don't use SFM because it's easy to animate, they used it because there's so much free content for it and it's a real-time engine so rendering doesn't take much time.
And, if you want to be absolute trash teir where you be a lazy fuck and don't want to bother putting in the effort to learn much of anything or do much, only making money off young kids or people with really weird fetishes, then you can go the Daz/Poser route.

Seriously, if you want to work in gaming, movies, or any other part of entertainment that uses CG, don't learn Blender. It's not because of the tools; Blender is perfectly capable, if a little wonky in its workflow. It's because without exception, no studio where you would try to work uses Blender. If you take two equally skilled applicants in terms of CG knowledge, one that knows the software the studio uses and one that does not, the studio will always hire the one that already knows the software used in that studio.

If that doesn't matter to you, for example if you want to start your own company, are just a hobbyist, or don't plan to ever try to get a job in the CG industry, then use whatever you want.

Nobody believes you. You're probably overstating things because you want to make Blender sound easier to learn and use than it is, but you're coming off as a troll. Also, people call Blender difficult because it's interface is not laid out in a task oriented manner. Even people that are devoted to Blender have said this. The tools and options you need for a given task are spread through a bunch of sub menus and different panels, and it just makes the work take longer. Again, this is a major topic of discussion among Blender users. The UI is too cluttered. It's not that it cannot be learned. It's that it could be much more conducive to getting the work done, which would make it more worth learning.

This is a subjective opinion, but I can see why some people really like using Blender for that kind of work. However, if anyone thinks Blender's modeling is objectively better than Modo's, they're just plain wrong.

What makes a modeling program better than another is generally the speed with which you can get the models made. Modo makes that part of the pipeline very fast.

Of course, there are aspects to Blender that are much better than in Modo, particularly rigging and animation.

What it boils down to is that different high-end CG programs tend to have something they are the best (meaning the fastest and most reliable) at. Studios buy the best in class for each feature if they can and if that software will work with their current pipeline.

Blender doesn't have that. It's not the best at anything. It's pretty damn good at everything (even though I personally hate modeling with it), but it doesn't excel at any one aspect. If it doesn't do something better than a piece of software that studios are already invested in (and therefore save time, which saves money), studios won't adopt it.

Also, typically all studios use Maya in some capacity, and because of the cost, they build their pipelines around it. That means that knowing Maya is basically a requirement to get a job in a lot of CG studios, and secondary software HAS to work well with Maya. Blender only just now got a stable FBX binary exporter that doesn't get its exports butchered by Maya/Autodesk importers. So you can see another reason for it not being used in studios.

Again, if you don't care about all that, just want to learn 3d for yourself, want to work for yourself or whatever, then it's a non-issue. It is why a lot of people say Blender is junk, though.

A final thought here. A lot of Blender's features aren't fully developed, but are integrated already anyway. I am particularly thinking of the fluid dynamics system here. It need work, and isn't nearly as robust as the same systems in Maya or some other programs. It works, but you don't get the same level of control, and therefore tend to spend more time getting the results you want with it.

You're doing asset creation, so it's probably never going to affect you. It's just something to be aware of going forward.

Don't worry though. Blender's core modeling/UVing/texturing/rigging/animation workflow is rock solid.

You do realize that Poser has a full dope sheet and curves editor, right? It's basically the same interface that any 3d animator uses, and takes the same level of skill to use well. The sliders you keep complaining about are the same thing as blend shapes in Maya, and work they same way.

In fact, everything you keep bitching about with the program is pretty much exactly what you get with any amateur animator using any other tool. The problem isn't the tool. It's that you are citing the worst of the worst when it comes to examples of work. Plebeian no-skill scrubs would produce exactly the same thing with exactly the same degree of difficulty using ready-made assets in Maya. Meanwhile, skilled animators can produce high quality results with Poser or anything else that gives them the animation tools.

If you have access to a lot of fairly recent hardware just laying around unused and you enjoy setting up things like that, then sure, go for it. Better yet if someone else is footing the electrical bill.

If you're doing something that requires special software (say, a Blender build from a specific development branch), then it's probably the only way to go.

But for most people, it's easier to just pony up some money for time on a render farm.

So? That's not an excuse to not learning how to do any of those. Just model your garbage pony porn with human bodies, use a rigging script like advanced skeleton, and with some tweaks you've got yourself a rig suitable for porn animation.
