Yeah, I know Source was basically a meme engine currently getting raped by furfags, bronies, and autists, but what I loved about Source was that it was scalable to any platform.
I know they released the Dota Workshop tools, but do we know when they will release an official build to be downloaded?
Also, do you think they will fix the awful compile system? It would be nice just to import .fbx/other propriertary files like in Unreal Engine 4.
Are you talking about tools to be used for making source models? In which case no. Its basically stored in a folder for dota.
ask on facepunch they will help you and probably attempt to ban you from workshop as they don't like competitors.
Source 2 has FBX import. The Source 2 Dota 2 Workshop Twools have it, as does the updated Source Film Maker.
Yeah, but when will we get an actual SDK, you know, like Source 1, where it bundles HLMV, Hammer, etc.
I highly doubt S2 will beat UE4 or Unity 5 in any area. Valve is so unreliable now that it's a waste of time to wait for them to see if they made something worthy. I'd say go with UE4.
Don't you need Dota 2 to use the workshop tools? Who wants to download a shitty mmo for neets just to use some sub-par tools.
Alright. Check your dota 2 folder. You will find HLMV in there along with all the other tools.
You won't find something to decompile models however nor will you find something to extract them.
Dota 2 isn't an MMO bruh. It's an action oriented RTS game that is a fresh experience every match.
MOBAs are cancer fuck off
What that nigger said
Well you're in luck, because Dota 2 isn't a "MOBA", that piece of trash LoL is. Don't group those trash MOBAs with Dota 2.
Can we please get back on topic and help OP? Do we have any details about the release of Source 2 other than Dota 2?
If we did then it would be posted in here.
Nobody knows anything.
Valve keeps tight lipped about that stuff, but it's believed it will come out with the release of Valve's VR headset. Or Half Life 3, as there's a good chance the engine is still in development with HL3. (and yes, HL3 is happening still, some new HL3 dev files accidentally leaked into a Dota 2 update recently)
On June 17, 2015, Valve released a beta update for Dota 2, titled "Reborn", becoming the first game using the Source 2 engine. The original client was phased out in September 2015, with the Source 2 update becoming official.
source 2 is already out.
