Hey t/3/apots, I'm really interested in working at one of the big animation studios on the technical side of things, like the people that develop the technology for rendering snow in Frozen or the developers of renderman. I was hoping someone here who had experience could answer these two questions:
>how important is it to have published papers when applying for this kind of internships or jobs?
>how much people are applying for this jobs? is it as sought after as animation or character design positions?
Maybe this isn't the place to ask, but I figured I had the best chances here, thanks.
ask this stupid shit at polygon
>>how important is it to have published papers when applying for this kind of internships or jobs?
Not at all. If you can do the work and you can prove that you can do the work then you can do the work.
>>how much people are applying for this jobs? is it as sought after as animation or character design positions?
More people than you can imagine.
just like any job the thing that matters is your connections because nepotism is the #1 thing that matters when people make hiring decisions, go to meetups, get drinks with people who work places you want to work, show them cool projects you did. Works every time.
Why are there so many threads about working in the industry?
I guess because it comes a time when you wanna get out of the basement
Because some of us do and get angry at the stupid shit that people who aren't spout as "fact".
And that's why you ask help from other basement dwellers (and malicious trolls) on a mongolian cartoon board.
I don't know
